same results in unidirectional? how's your test print look? what media you using? do you have a profile for it? highest pass, unidirectional, and a head setting of 32/34 is my standard for fields of solid fill. granted, i run a jv3160 but it's not that different.

bet you had some fuzz in your encoder sensor. simply flipping a dirty encoder strip won't just fix it.

yes. assuming it still works and you can clean it properly without damaging electrical components. make sure you note the Head I.D.#, the labels aren't solvent-proof and have been known to wipe clean with fingers full of cleaning solution. also, here's a collection of JV3 documents that you...

overlam is really just vinyl... should stick fine. did you also consider clear dry erase paint?

we use Onyx color management on our JV3 160sp, and an xRite eyeONe spectro. was my first time ever building my own profiles, and it was almost mindless. Soooo easy.

ink dropout occurs when the siphon effect that feeds the printhead is interrupted and the printer has no ability to tell if it's actually laying down ink so it just keeps printing assuming that it is firing ink when its supposed to. caused by, but not limited to: -empty ink cartridge still...

pretty certain you need RIP software to operate this machine. if we could print direct from photoshop/illustrator, then there wouldn't be a market for $1000 software. rasterlink is your best bet, if you don't want to spend much.

anything your supplier carries that's more than 2mil +1 this. 3164 is 4mil and quite inexpensive, much more-so by comparison to vehicle wrap vinyls.

looks like its actually printing the lines of magenta in the wrong spot, exposing the yellow that is laying where it should. +1 encoder strip and/or sensor cleaning
