  1. No business

Good luck with that! Argentina will not let corn get much above $6-$7. Also lots of ethenol plants going up here, driving the corn market. I have 95K bs of storage so I can play the market a bit anyway. The ONLY reason I do beans is less trips, corn I got 200 and acre beans I get 60-70. Lot less...
  2. No business

You know, I wasn't calling anyone out on being lazy. I just get tired of "this economy" being the excuse FOR EVERYTHING!!! BTW, soybean prices are around $14, so I could care less if I had any sign jobs come in. They hit $16 and you might not hear from the 'ol Mosh, cause I will be kicking it on...
  3. Vinyl Choices - in lieu of Avery

Oracal 751 or 3M is what we use. Fellers stocks most Oracal colors so it is what we use the most of.
  4. Minimum charge on small jobs?

Yeah, mailbox number "205" scrap vinyl used, a little tape, 5 minutes time $4.28 with tax. Thank you! I see you guys point, I have PITA customers too BUT, word of mouth is the best advertising!!!! Keep grams happy with the mailbox numbers, his grandson then orders $2,000 sign later, or not. Hey...
  5. Minimum charge on small jobs?

I have no minimum, we take all comers!
  6. wrinkles in canvas; Magiclee from Fellers

I have never done canvas but, when we do banner we load the material and then roll out the amount of material we need so the printer isn't pulling it off the roll. If we don't do this we often have the material fold up. Don't know if this is the problem....
  7. No business

I lost a good customer (they got there own print shop in house) and my "employees" went "home" to Mexico, not at thier choosing. I am currently two weeks out on getting stuff finished, so it guess that is pretty busy! Never not had a job to do in my shop! Get an answering machine, if you...
  8. No business

I have as much business as I want..I GO OUT AND GET IT! Just drive around and look for crappy signs and go sell them a new one. In 20+ years I have NEVER been out of work. Using the phrase "this economy" makes me puke, what a cop out for lazy people!!!!
  9. Contour Cutting

    +1
  10. I think I got a great deal??

Sounds like a good deal. If I see any of my "employees" hitting my M&R auto with a mallet they are headin to Mexiclly in a hurry!!!!
  11. I think I got a great deal??

2-3 color stuff no problem, but doing process with an under of white and a couple spot colors on top using a mallet would never work. Different deal when doing 5,000 prints or just 100 two color. Its all good though, A printer and a dryer and a spot for cheap. Our dryer alone was $8K, but we run...
  12. printing multiple jobs

What RIP are ypou using? What printer?
  13. I think I got a great deal??

You must not do much process work! If a mallet hits it one way, then soon it will work itself back. That works for "redneck" printing, but NOT for four color quality work.
  14. I think I got a great deal??

Can you clamp the screen down in the holder, and then adjust it into registration without loosening the screen from the clamps? That is the key between a normal machine and a good one. In order to do process work you need this. Also the dryer, you need to run some stuff and be sure you are...
  15. I think I got a great deal??

Does it have micro registration? How wide is the conveyor? What size are the plattens on the printer? Doesn't sound too bad if you are a beginner. Most basic now is at least 6 color machines....
  16. Stupid cat!!!!

Two years ago I found a kitten in my shop's parking lot. I am allergic to cats so I ignored it and hoped it would go away. Well later that day one of my good cutomers (and friend) came in the shop holding that damn kitten and said I needed to do something with it since it was in my lot. Well I...
  17. What the Heck was he thinking!!!!!

Hope that DOES NOT include the hangers!! Tell the customer there was a mess up and to take it up with the salesman, unless they are a good customer. Otherwise you are going to be stuck at that price. They could spead the word on the price and you will be stuck explaining this for a long time!!!
  18. What the Heck was he thinking!!!!!

For 32 I would be at $125 each full color, two sides, 16 oz, pole pocket top and bottom. What, did he leave on a bad note????
  19. Need a source for a Door

These work pretty good with some pratice.
  20. printing multiple jobs

On our Roland printers we print multiple copies up to a whole roll at a time. If laminating and then cutting we run 10'-12' feet of copies at a time, this will make sure the cutting stays in close registration. Pretty simple, if this was the right question.
