  1. Think of it this way....

It's bad, no doubt about it. Whether you think it is or isn't, is entirely up to you and your loved ones on how you go about things. My only request is, while I respect your feelings towards it, please respect mine. Don't make me succumb to your wishes without respecting mine. It might be...
  2. Removing screen printed ink from backlit face

If you've never done this before, you will cook the face, taking the old paint off and ruin it. Go to the customer and tell them from a professional standpoint, it is better to just replace the faces. Otherwise, he should look for another sucker to do it the wrong way. Stripping those things...

  4. List - Magnets that don’t stick

    Kinda....... any non-ferromagnetic metals.
  5. Vinyl lettering on vinyl siding?

To get your point across, you can explain to them, you can put a pinstripe on it, a border or even a different color background. You can do so much more with a flat canvas vs. that stepping of the siding. By the way, vinyl on vinyl..... there's no better adhesion than that.
  6. Vinyl lettering on vinyl siding?

Yes, you can do it, just make sure it's 110% clean. However, a nicer approach would be to put a panel of ACM or whatever up there and give it some 'oomph'. This would make it look like it was on purpose, instead of an afterthought.
  7. Rant Seriously Kidz?

Maybe he just knows what he's doing and is in & out in no time at all. Probably doesn't smoke, either. It's Hell getting old................... :sleepin:
  8. Never come across this before....................

Is it 5 o'clock out there ?? :beer
  9. Completely washed out backlit panels

Profile might help, double strike and all that other stuff could possibly make it better, but even the white copy on the blue field is hard to read. It appears the guy used to high a lumens for the transition, instead of comparable to what was in there. Ask him what he used, before you re-do...
  10. I think 3M has done something purposely to cause this.

It might do well with thermal, but not inkjet, many times.
  11. Never come across this before....................

It was around 5:30 when I was putting this together. Not quite 7 when I wrote here. Most vendors don't start getting back to ya til after 8 and I was champing at the bit. So far, no one has a definitive answer. Not really. The spanish wording will be on the customer, that's a given, but...
  12. Never come across this before....................

So far, nobody knows of braille for spanish signs. Regular braille, but not the abbreviated version. I do know about all the various spellings for spanish. Our area is very very heavy in spanish and whether you have it written by mexicans, columbians, puerto ricans or argentinians, they all...
  13. Need Help To Clear or Not To Clear

Quite honestly, it's only a lotta BS, if you cannot do it and not set up for it. At 1/2" it will never warp, like the PVC you mentioned will do. For any decent sign shop, this would take about 2 days to have the sign panel ready for lettering. If ya can wait, it'll be better, as the paint...
  14. Never come across this before....................

Have a customer for some years now, who just asked me, can we do ADA signs ?? Sure. Can you do them in Spanish ?? Wel........ sure, I think. It's too early to call my vendors, but is braille available in Spanish ?? Afterall, it is American disability act. Not sure if anyone is set up for...
  15. Need Help To Clear or Not To Clear

That's a very good point. What I've noticed and have come to believe is, that the "easy to clean" pertains mostly to interior paints and latex type paints in general. Outdoor non-chalking, insect resilient and non-fading generally will still hold other paint or vinyl. However, it should be a...
  16. Need Help To Clear or Not To Clear

If you get bulletin 1Shot, ya don't need all those additives. You were talking to someone who didn't understand your question(s). It's still a decent paint and has more tooth than latex, but to each their own. The lettering 1Shot has decreased in quality, but I still use a ton of it. Do not...
  17. Need Help To Clear or Not To Clear

I doubt the reason is because it's wood, but rather the paint you're using.
  18. Need Help To Clear or Not To Clear

So, if it's actual plywood, Ya fill all the voids and edges with your putty, sand it and seal the edges with your putty. Sand the edges til smooth. Now, ya sand the face(s) down with an orbital sander at that size. Tack it. Use the stuff Yanki suggested, much better. If you can, roll with with...
