  1. printing problem with Mutoh VJ-1204

It looks like someone might have reset the bi-directional alignments back to default. You are going to want to go into the service mode and check the alignments and adjust them if need be. A quick way to test this theory is to print the same file in uni-directional mode. if the problem goes...
  2. printing problem with Mutoh VJ-1204

That's a head alignment issue. Did this just happen out of the blue or has something changed recently like replacing the print head or a really bad head strike?
  3. Roll to Roll Becoming Loose

Although you should be able to print a whole roll in one shot, there are a lot of factors that go into doing it successfully and I rarely see anyone accomplish it 100% in the field. The 3 main factors are: 1. The vinyl manufacturer needs to roll the vinyl on perfectly without any telescoping...
  4. Question: Does anyone leave their mutoh printer on standby over long peroids of time?

Set the sleep cleanings to 12 hours and set it and forget it. In my experience, you can get away with a fairly long vacation without doing anything special to the machine. Letting it clean every 12 hours on economy cleanings will waste very little ink and keep the head from clogging for the most...
  5. DX4 Print Head Problem

Oh the old head rank debate. It never seems to end. I haven't input a head rank in 8 years as a full time technician. That's on DX2, DX3, DX4, DX5 and DX7 heads. Not once have I had an issue. I heard early on from a manufacturer tech that the head ranks are necessary in water based printers but...
  6. Anyone in Denver area for service/help?

What model printer did you buy? We are in Denver and handle mostly roll to roll solvent printers but we do handle the Mimaki JFX200 machine in the area.
  7. Replacing Linear Encoder on JV33-130

It's pretty straight forward once you get in there. The main concern is to not damage the new strip during install. Wear gloves to avoid smudging it up with your fingerprints. Be extra careful to not fold/kink the strip or let it run along the sharp sheet metal. Once the old one is out of the...
  8. Mutoh 1204 Troubles...

I replace a lot of Mutoh maintenance stations every year so for me, I can do it in about 30 minutes. Most of our customers are replacing these parts on their own and they tend to take about an hour to an hour and a half. If you know which end of a screw driver to hold, you can replace the...
  9. Mutoh 1204 Troubles...

OEM Maintenance Station - Order before 3:00pm Mountain time and it will ship same day.
  10. Mutoh 1324 Horizontal Banding

How old is the machine? I am leaning towards a dirty/cloudy encoder strip or possibly the dampers and cap top have not been changed in a long time so the ink flow is not keeping up with the print speeds.
  11. How to find service for a Mimaki in Charlotte, NC

It didn't fail because it was a bad machine necessarily. Whoever priced it was taking crazy pills. When you could get a latex machine from HP for $10k - $15k and Mimaki came out with the JV400 for around $40k, no one really wanted to spend that much money to see if it was any better than the HP...
  12. How to find service for a Mimaki in Charlotte, NC

Mimaki does not make dealers support machines they didn't sell. They may encourage a dealer to work with a customer but the JV400 series has almost no trained techs in America so even if there is a dealer near you, I bet they have never even seen this machine in person. It's a failed machine.
  13. HELP - ROLAND SOJET PRO III XC540 - no colours after power out

You are going to want to check the fuses on the head board. It sounds like there was a power surge and that could have fried the fuses. If they all turn out to be good, start troubleshooting the ink system.
  14. Printer Disposal

If you aren't looking to make any money off of it, throw it in the ally way. Our record is 3 seconds before someone came along and took it to scrap.
  15. ValueJet CONVERTING message

I would lean towards a communication or memory issue as well. Is this happening every time you run the machine or just once in a while?
  16. Dampers filled with a little air MIMAKI JV300

Dampers will naturally have air/empty space in them if they are working properly. The new Mimaki dampers are a little more complicated but the same applies. What does your nozzle check look like? Missing any nozzles? Dye sub is notorious for frying heads. If you have had these heads running...

  19. JFX200 UV light lense cleaning

I searched everywhere and the only thing I found said to periodically remove dust and build up from the lamps. Two precautions you want to take into account are not to try to clean the lamps right after they are done being used as they can be hot and cause injury to you or to the machine. The...
