sorry... that does look deceptive, because I didn't mention RGB... but in illustrator, I am used to the cmyk sliders for assigning my colors... but when I export to a .tif file... it's ALWAYS an RGB file for printing!!

most of that is way over my head... but I would never push a 200 mg file for a 3x10 banner. maybe for a glossy vinyl or poster photo for a closely viewed end product... but I'd bet a 100 meg file of the same thing would look the same. I use flexi to rip jobs to my mimaki & I almost always...

is he using Flexi's own rip program, or Rolands? I use Flexi's "rip & print" feature & I send one file, with print info & cut info in the file that I send, & I can see everything in my production manager, including the registration marks, & exact dimensions... everything. Everything works...

I sold a 4x9 Banner yesterday for $675. It was a rush job, from artwork on file from their previous order... which was a 2x5 banner for $200. load banner, click on "print", cut off roll, trim edges & grommet. ...could they have bought it online for $100? probably so... could they have...

well... it looks like you learned something here. People can enjoy jumping in the fray for the occassional mob mentality flame throwing... but at the end of the day, we mostly enjoy getting to know & respect each other. You already seem like you would rather fit in then fan the flames... but...

does your print guy have illustrator? If so, maybe he can do the final export as a .tif for you since you are so underpowered in ram. (or go buy more ram) Also, there are limits to the color gamut of possibilities from a cmyk printer. Flourescent Orange is the best example I know of if I had...

I use Illustrator too... almost all the work I do in my expensive copies of Flexi, Signlab & Omega starts by importing illustrator (& Photoshop) files in there. ...but I also bought Corel about 8 years ago... for one reason. FONTS!! It came with tones of fonts & only cost me $150.

the other best advice was that you will be having these printed on panels.. what size panel? ... break up the file into that size panel (with 1/2" overlap) & then you will have 5 or 6 files instead of one big file

So... in light of Fred's statement above (or my excerpt) ...people should really try to specifically identify the unique & varied situation they are in when asking for advice. There are so maony posts where the first half of attempts (by several members) to help are wasted on guessing what...

thanks for the info. I looked through them all & picked out these 12: I saved my "cart" to return later. Anyone who has then see any duds in this list? I will admit I was a little shocked at $65 freight in the lowest, slowest freight choice. Seems high to me, but the deal is pretty good...
