  1. Small Metal Shear

got a 144" pneumatic and a 48" jump shear. even though we have a router, they're still two of our best tools in the shop!
  2. Need lighting recommendations

  3. College is replacing the sexist Men Working signs with Crew Working

mad props for the construction company blowing her off and continuing work. big win for man-kind...owait, is that sexist too?!?
  4. Multi ladders

i have about 6 little giants here at the shop and we still somehow wind-up fighting over who gets to use them or who's stuck with the 2 gorilla ladders we bought at discount. we've also got the the scaffold/plank that extends up to 15', that you can span between 2 little giants. great tool to...
  5. help with led or neon

neon could be fun, but its not really. keep them on the LED-route, less maintenance, and less power. pending budget, I could have some fun with it. aluminum led lightbox, routed face with digital print, push-thru plexiglass with trans. print/red vinyl, and a golden aluminum frame with a...
  6. pricing a small reflective job... i don't know

chaulk it up as a win, if you want to claim your use of scrap materials and were able it work for them in very little time, but most trades bill @ $65+/hr, not including materials, and I bet you spent a bit more than that on this. software, hardware, materials, downtime posting on s101, and...
  7. vehicle graphics lamination

3551 works just fine outdoors, on flat/simple curves. I wouldn't use the 210 lam, however. finish with the 290 cast lam if you really want it to last.
  8. LED Retro Fits

your LED/sign supplier should have the dbl-sided LED strips that fit into existing fluorescent sockets... all sizes. otherwise, as stated above, amazon has options as well. "Lite-Stick" is the brand my suppliers carry.
  9. Future of Backlit?

looks like electroluminescence in a plastic tube. who knows, we might be buying our El Panels from Home Depot in no time!
  10. ugly expensive job...

bad installers. they're just not trying... no way a few "pebbles"/steel studs or a round frontage would get in our way like that.
  11. Need Material for Cheerleading Signs

lol @ "ghetto" got yourself a sofistikated client right there :) plenty of brands out there that have coroplast filler, with a rigid non-fluted face. loads of names for it, check with your supplier. gatorplast, nudo panels, are two that pop to mind.
  12. jv3 160 sp 3rd party inks?

yup! almost 10 years now. 4 of which being with bordeaux inks. plenty of threads on here about 3rd party inks. pros/cons, etc. main reason not-to, would be that it voids the warranty of your printer. other than that, I can't see why not... besides some other brands out there that have reviews...
  13. jv3 160 sp 3rd party inks?

i use bordeaux-brand on my jv3. works great, no issues. only noticeable difference, besides approx. 65% the cost, is a heavier solvent-smell... but i've learned to love it. Smells like $$$ now.
  14. The ultimate wisconsinites

just went to the game yesterday!!! AND was at the stadium-view bar :) ...i wonder where they're gonna go with what is means to be a "wisconsin-ite". prolly another redneck hillbilly show like Here Comes HoneyBooBoo or whatever
  15. help with tape hinges

I'm a felt squeegee man, myself. ...the rectangular ones, not the plastic squeegees with felt tape on them.
  16. What would you do?

Fellers used to do this, as well, with their custom banners. We got the quantities we ordered, but sometimes we'd get an order where 10/40 banners we received, the pole pockets had "pinch points" that were half the size that were spec'd. we got the line "+/- room for error, etc" but if i want a...
  17. help with tape hinges

book-hinging is nice, but too many headaches... paper crud in the adhesive being one of them. cut and fold 1-2" of it back next time, so that only the non-stick surface is allowed to touch the vinyl.
  18. help with tape hinges

its where you're hinging. the action of the squeegee is "jumping-down" from the +mm thickness of the tape to the masked vinyl and slightly stretching and pressing down a thin line of air that gets mashed into a million tiny imperfections.
  19. Half a Billion powerball

worth the buy-in just to dream of even winning just the $2mil... tho' I could do a lotta damage with 300+ after cash-out tax-out
  20. Lighting an Acrylic Sign

that looks great! such a cool and easily added effect for a sign, engraving the glass/plexi to catch the light. I was going to reply that you could go with LEDs, to keep a small profile, but then realized you were posting the completion photos from the OP :) ...aaand that, if you used a LOT...
