  1. JV3 - printhead install / alignment woes

Noooo! I don't even want to think about any possibility that doesn't include a successful (although misaligned) printhead install! :) anything's a possibility, i guess, but the x-base/y-base procedures that preceded this error... all had perfectly clean and solid lines. (my photos are...
  2. frosted hell.

what?!? you's crazy ma'an. I just applied 5 frosted windows @ 60" x 72" with adjacent doors @ 36" x 72".... NO WAY i'da attempted to dry-apply. after a few attempts with rapid tac on previous projects, it simply dries toooo fast and leaves lines where I squeegee. soapy water and a few extra...
  3. frosted hell.

lol.... "spooge" frozen/crystallized moisture beneath the vinyl? if so, nothing a few pokes (blade) and a blow (heat gun) can't cure :)
  4. JV3 not pulling ink

+1 to tech support. nothing worse than trying to track-down how someone else (that's not around anymore) broke it. at least in my situation, I usually can figure out where/how I screwed something up along the way over a month of non-use, and no way of pin-pointing when/how things went wrong...
  5. JV3 - printhead install / alignment woes

pardon the long-read, but i'm wiped and looking for confirmation of my alignment procedure diagnosis. although its my 4th printhead install, it has been a while since I've done this and now I'm second-guessing my next step: ********** in the Y-Si alignment procedure, I know that I'm supposed...
  6. jv130 - new black ink cartridge, but readout still shows K

prolly happened the 2nd time because the 1st order was messed up, and they based the new order off the recent order history. that's sweet you're supplier is so close. I have to drive 45min in each direction, if I need to get to my 3 suppliers in a hurry, but I've been getting good at ordering...
  7. 4x4' rent signs

25% is too big a discount for the 2nd. Maybe a 4+ price if you think it could go that direction.
  8. jv130 - new black ink cartridge, but readout still shows K

you should be fine over the weekend. JV3 right? set a nozzle wash and power-down the printer, flipping the secondary switch in the back as well. keeps the printheads/lines/dampers "wet" for as long as you need. was it really the wrong ink? I've been having this issue lately, as well. Solved...
  9. Hello From Champaign-Urbana, IL

greetings from wisconsin! I spend a lot of time in Urbana, I think I still have an unpaid parking ticket from 2009. LOL. long drive for me, but nice town.
  10. JV3-160SP Pump can't hold cleaning solution

added note: recently had the same issue and tried my own advice to no success.... solution came to me when I noticed ink dripping from my ink pump during fillupink and, upon closer inspection/removal of the pump, it turned out that this Triangle-brand ink pump from Fellers had split the ink...
  11. it's the final countdown: Chantix and the New Year

+1 to needing to quit. mainly due to the horrible smell and personal image impairment, as a 10yr smoker, but also due to the $$$'s I see disappearing along with the white of my teeth. I will be cheating and making a resolution that I have a better chance at keeping: "I will not buy a pack of...
  12. Coroplast sheets

just give him his 8'x8' sign in the 2 4'x8' sections and let him butt them together when he screws it to whatever. plus, it's easier to travel with/ship than an 8'x8' sign panel OR build an 8'x8' coroplast sheet out of 4-4'x8' sheets & acrylic bonding tape. ...flip the seam on the 2nd layer...
  13. asl. file

layer styles won't apply to background images, you need to apply it to a layer for any effects to take place
  14. What to use?

vhb tape and silicone works just fine for anything you can carry with two fingers.
  15. Material Fail?

+1 edgecap, idk why I didn't think of that. there's options available for dibond products, i believe, so you can probably even add it on to the existing signs.
  16. Material Fail?

make a sandwich! reverse-printed on clear, laminated with white, and applied 2nd-surface to clear plexi. you can then re-add the dibond as a backer panel with double-sided acrylic bonding tape for extra durability, and then the signs can take all the beating they want. simpler-route, can't...
  17. Ceiling mount sign brackets

we make that stuff in-house: (not trying to be an advertisement, but any sign shop that has the ability to custom manufacture aluminum signs could do this for you pretty quick) *welded extruded aluminum tubing with 1/4" welded&drilled aluminum mounting plates. *toggle/expansion bolted to ceiling...
  18. Material Fail?

sign on the slopes being picked-at, maybe, but assisted after already lifting is most likely I have yet to see anyone, on a ski hill, take the time to remove their gloves so that they can pick-at the vinyl on a sign. vandalism is fun, but so is skiing while you're paying $80 a lift ticket...
  19. Material Fail?

i wouldn't bother using material I didn't trust for the conditions. if my supplier gave me a materials solution for a project, and it failed, i'd be asking my supplier their thoughts. calendared material in extreme weather conditions?!? you're just asking for trouble. I'm thinking it could be...
