If that major city is NYC, how about something in tech theater/TV? Lot's of different types of materials, projects etc.
  2. Carved Black & Silver

The thing I liked about this carved sign was no gold leaf, as much as I love gold leaf it's nice to take a break from it on a carved sign. This is 1.5" HDU with the company name carved. Two products panels from ACM that can be changed. Finished with black acrylic enamel & silver metallic acrylic...
  3. Plumber sells truck but leaves the decals. ISIS uses his truck with decals still on..

Yep that's a while ago, but a good lesson. I knew someone who's trucks I did have everything go bad, divorce, bankruptcy, foreclosure etc. That was years ago, there are still a few of his trucks around with his graphics on them, must kill him every time he sees one.
  4. HP Z6100 error code 8:11

Try looking online for the z6100 manual/error codes. I think it has something to do with the font panel communicating with the PCA. You could try checking/reseating the connections, the jam could have shook something loose. But get the manual first to get the error code and see here the...
  5. Legal Mess. Who's to blame?

Boy, that sucks. No matter what it's going to cost the local sign company. Unless the franchise owned the signs or had a right of removal (including the can) which doesn't sound like the case there is trouble coming. They may have had the right to remove the branding but not the the actual sign...

Started part time with a local sign guy after high school. Went to Butera Sign School in Boston '74. Been at it one way or another ever since. Current shop started in 1990, bought out my partner in'99. We are a 4 person shop doing a large variety of commercial sign work.

  8. Quick Question about Hp Z2100 priter

I have z6100s and when we need a quick outdoor sign using them we apply a pressure sensitive laminate by hand. Pretty simple once you've done it a few times, wouldn't try it on anything too large though. If you use a decent vinyl and lam they could last up to a year or more. Merchant member...
  9. Large labels

    Thanks
  10. Large labels

I have a client who wants to get 18"x22" adhesive back "paper" labels. He brought a sample of what they want to match. The material looks like the same stuff that is used for small labels. They will be two color and done a few thousand at a time depending on price. Anyone have a supplier they've...
  11. Seaming foam board/gatorfoam for large interior sign

Flush on a wall doesn't give a lot of options, but also eliminates the issue of them staying flat. I'd consider applying the print on site

Hyatts in New York State also has them occasionally
  13. What is the interior color of your office?

  14. What is the interior color of your office?

We have two shades of grey with some red accents and the window/door frames are black. In the front room we had dark grey carpet but took it out and put down a cherry wood laminate floor. In the vinyl room we have a grey tile floor with dark red borders. Front room has a fabric display wall and...

Yep, like RJPW,we use VHB to fasten the cleat to the back of the panel, adding a blockout layer of vinyl firts
  16. This year's Holiday Card

We still send out a Holiday card, but we seem to be part of a dying breed. We get a couple from suppliers and a few from longtime customers but that's about it. We send about 150, so it isn't cheap but I like acknowledging our regular and new customers. Each year I design something, used local...
  17. Xmas holiday

We try to do half day on the "eve" and take the holiday off, or next day like this year. But we have retail clients that get orders every week so we're never completely closed. If it's quiet we will do some shop upgrades.
  18. Cut Vinyl graphics not sticking to customer's wall!!! Help!

you need to find out if the paint is "Scrubbable" or some similar term, which means vinyl won't likke it
  19. Advertising on your signs
