  1. NEED ADVISE. Just starting out.

You need lamination on anything going outside, and sometimes inside. I'm not sure what an "arrow wrap" is, but anything on a vehicle 100% always laminate. If it's cut vinyl, not needed, but printed...ALWAYS. I really think you are jumping into something you need to do some more research on...
  2. PM ME WITH essentials on buying starter settup FOR THIS WORK???

Ok, no problem...just thought I was gettin' spammed or something. Sounds like you are lookin' on eBay. That's risky business not knowing anything about the items. It's hard enough buying new from a vendor, and them backing up the product. There's a huge learning curve there. I'd REALLY...
  3. PM ME WITH essentials on buying starter settup FOR THIS WORK???

Didn't you just ask this exact same question like an hour ago? And why are you hitting me w/ PM's asking me about stuff?
  4. NEED ADVISE. Just starting out.

Pretty sure there is no such thing as a "low cost" RIP, and if there was...pretty sure you wouldn't want it. It's the key to your printer actually giving a crap when you print jobs.
  5. Great deal on eBay

    Now that's a GRAND format printer...GEEZ!
  6. I Need A Mimaki Technician Asap

Did you check to see if your pump is just out? I wasn't getting two of my colors in a test print, and it's just because my pumps were shot...replaced them, and about 30 mins later was back up and running...didn't have to have anyone come out. I deal w/ Advantage.
  7. do you use after market ink's

I just started using Bordeaux. So far so good. Didn't have to do any fills and clean out the old lines, just stick the new one in, and let er rip. Haven't replaced all the colors yet...but like I said, good so far. Since my warranty is up, might as well check it out.
  8. Where did PREPPIE?!?! under my user name come from?

UNLESS it says "Admin" then it's got a little meaning behind it!
  9. Graphic Designer

I'll do ya one better...use Eric Schmidt (The Vector Doctor) and you can get the same thing made in America, w/ a real person that will help you out for about the same price.
  10. Graphic Designer

Welcome! Also, another good idea is...if you aren't a graphic designer yourself, but want to run the "sign" aspect of it, and just do the grunt work, hire yourself one. I know enough to get by, and when we have to create something from scratch, or do logo creations, I call in a real designer...
  11. Outrageous!!!

We didn't get our extension either...I'll let ya know if it pays off...
  12. Illustratorplugin for weeding lines

Yea, if you don't want to do it that way, I use Fine Cut. Don't know if I'd pay for it, but it's what Mimaki uses I think....not 100% where it came from.
  13. Location location location

Long as you have a bunch of staff to cover "drive by's" or "tire kickers". Ya know, the guys who want stuff for nothin', and waste 30 minutes of your time explaining that. That's the worst part about us moving to a high visibility area. Bein' a one man shop, it really sucks.
  14. Hemming a banner?

I'd think you would bust your machine up if it isn't industrial. If they are indoors, we just use the banner hemming tape Feller's sells.
  15. How big is your shop sq.ft ceiling ht etc?

9' office/work area ceilings, and (4) 12' X 14' doors in the shop. I'd probably do 14' X 14' if I could have my choice...just a little bit limited...but the depth has been my biggest problem so far. The shop was an old service shop before we bought the place and gutted it, so not real deep for...
  16. screen capture software

I thought that was just for sending LOW RES pictures to customers for proofs. The pudding I'm using I'd NEVER use for a screen capture program...maybe it's got another function that I'm missing though. I'll have to research this tomorrow. You got my wheels spinning.
  17. Tracking goes off after 100in

Is it free to move on both sides of the plotter? I had it bunching up a little behind the plotter once cause I was trying to cut too much, and I just should have moved it away from the wall. It wrinkled just enough to make it start tracking bad. I assume you would have noticed it doing that...
  18. Leaving on Vacation for a week.. a few questions on the printer

Oh man, I wouldn't flush the system just for leaving a week. Although I don't promote it, I have had an instance when I couldn't have anyone around to clean it for a week, but it isn't like the heads were going to dry up. It still keeps pumping ink while your gone. I just cleaned it really...
  19. Does anyone buy back empty SS2 cartridges?

Humm...I saved all mine for about a year, then decided to trash them. I'll start takin' them to Staples if they'll do something w/ them though.
  20. Best way to cut vinyl....

We just don't do customers front car windows. If they want something on the back, it's usually a business, if they want something up front...what I want to charge them for the job is usually more than what the car is worth. I've just started sayin' no to some of these guys cause they get too...
