  1. Is clear ink and primer worth it?

I'm thinking about updating my Mimaki JFX200 to have a clear ink channel as well as a primer channel. Any thoughts on this? Experiences? Is this a useful option to have or just a gimmick that won't ever get used?
  2. Head strike on Mimaki JFX200

So I made a huge mistake. I went to print a template onto the table and set the head height so it would be 2.1mm away from the table. I forgot to take out the media locating screws and needless to say the screw took out a head. My question is? Shouldn't the safety bar have prevented this? I...
  3. JFX200 Users...what ink set are you using

Just seeing what ink set JFX200 users are using and why? We just bought a used JFX200 with just CMYK and white. No light cyan or light magenta. Is this important? Thanks! Greg
  4. Does anyone have any feedback on the EFI H1625?

I don't have one but was looking at them. I talked with a couple of other FASTSIGNS who have them and they love them! This would be my choice for a hybrid for sure!

  7. Printing aluminum sign blanks with a flatbed

We are working on a bid to print 1800 aluminum sign panels. We are in the process of getting a Mimaki JFX200 flatbed and I was wondering if anyone had any experience printing traffic signs with a flatbed? How do they look, durability and best way to do it? The thought of manually applying...
  8. Best vinyl and laminate for gymnasium floors

I'm working with our local college and they want us to print and install some 9x12' floor graphics on their gymnasium floor. We did some samples for them with IJ40 and the textured laminate from 3M, but they say it's too slick. What have you found that works? Sticks well, yet removable and has...
  9. Any FastSigns franchise owners?

Yup Yup, they are the success stories, that's why they go to the conventions, they're driven, just like the success story this franchise owner is living right now. I wouldn't change a thing. (Maybe because I just landed a $20K plus job an hour ago because of FASTSIGNS!) I'm not knocking...
  10. On 60" media, why is the laminate 61" wide?

I'm puzzled why I can buy print media in 60 inch wide rolls but the laminate is only available in 61" wide? Won't this cause problems coming out of the laminator and the take up sticking together? 54" media has 54" laminate......help me! Greg
  11. Any FastSigns franchise owners?

Love it So when I was looking at the FASTSIGNS franchise, I was invited to their convention. I bet I asked over 100 owners if they had any regrets whatsoever and not ONE said they wouldn't do it again! So I just got a call from an Indian reservation up north for a huge order and guess how they...
  12. Any FastSigns franchise owners?

Fastsigns I was told I need to treat and budget for FASTSIGNS as another employee. If you don't take advantage of what they have to offer you won't be as successful as those that do utilize them for all they have to offer. So just this week I received two jobs just because I'm a FASTSIGNS...

  14. L25500 Carriage lube issues daily...help!

Tensioner So I fixed a lot of the clanging, banging problems by shimming the new tensioner. I went to the hardware store and found some nylon stepped spacers about .100 thick and installed them into the month old tensioner and now its running much better. The carriage was still really sticky...

  16. L25500 Carriage lube issues daily...help!

issue So right after I installed a new belt, tensioner, new updated bushings and felts, I cleaned and lubricated it with the oil that comes with the printer and it made it about two weeks before binding up and banging again. Might just have to make it a twice daily ritual to keep this pig...
  17. L25500 Carriage lube issues daily...help!

So this printer is kicking my butt! Getting carriage lube issues like everyone else. Did the firmware update, replaced the belt and tensioner and even the carriage bushings and felts. I need to clean and lubricate before every big print run or the printer binds up and botches the job. I have...

  19. A friend's/customer's experience with buying a sign franchise.

So far I'm really impressed with being a FASTSIGNS owner. I was really skeptical about getting into this business and talked with tons of sign owners as well as FASTSIGNS Center owners and all had nothing to say but good about FASTSIGNS. It's been almost a year and things are really starting to...
