  1. Store Facelift

:U Rock: looks great! HUGE difference.
  2. Another JV3 Printhead Alignment

bi-directional definately not aligned. confirmed if same print look good in uni-directional. have you run all alignment procedures for all combinations of fast/normal/bi/uni?
  3. Printed vinyl durability

depending on sun exposure, the printed color will fade before the material fails.... noticeable after about 5years or so. unlaminated, no more than 2.
  4. Big sign advice

+1 to aluminum w/framework. down n' dirty cheapest would be painted MDO with graphics. we do large-scale architectural signage, so I'm more inclined to say build from scratch and do something really great while you're making the effort. also, whatever you do, make sure you get a PERMIT. some...
  5. JV3-160SP Pump can't hold cleaning solution

assuming that you have working parts, all you have to do is remove the pump, advance the gear slightly, and reinstall.
  6. New Retirement Plan

    get em' while they're "hot"!
  7. Exterior Routered Letter install

idk what comacell is, but if its not too heavy then 100% silicone and vhb tape should be enough. no point in putting holes in a perfectly good wall unless you need to.
  8. Need to outgas?????

lam too soon = mushy graphic to apply. be fighting wrinkles allday. also, playing around when we first got the printer, we did print/cut/fullcoverage and pulled laminate off with the premask.
  9. This Is Why!

    ouch!
  10. 3M 5100 Black Reflective: Failing?!?

Delamination is a first for us, however. Shy of some of our printables, we're 3M across the board, and never this issue for the twenty years I've been here. So its really odd that the only common variable in this new material that is failing, amongst 8/60 lines of copy, 5/14 different signs...
  11. 3M 5100 Black Reflective: Failing?!?

outgas? yes. first and last time we didn't wait for paint to outgas prior to application (matthews acrylic polymer) , resulted in bubbling of the reflective graphics within an hour or two of application. 3M prespacing tape? no. I don't even think any of our suppliers offer 3M transfer tape...
  12. 3M 5100 Black Reflective: Failing?!?

best guess would be salt from the roads, splashed onto the sign face during the winter months? (only failing graphics happen to be street-side, and facing oncoming traffic) I've replaced one entire face and all other failing graphics on this particular campus with the 5100R, and another face...
  13. Tackiest wrap ever?

lol@ "thanks to custom-painted 30-inch Forgiato Maschili wheels that make the Camaro like Lolo Jones running hurdles in spike heels."
  14. Backlit Dome Install

+1 to applying prior to vacuum-forming, but hindsight is 20/20. i do like the idea of "heating and dipping", as Border stated, like i've done for helmets with 180Cv3... but at that scale, yikes!, and could be a pain with trans.vinyl print. I wish I had that task, for a reason to try, but...
  15. 3M 5100 Black Reflective: Failing?!?

Approx. 60 directional signs, across multiple campuses, with black reflective vinyl that we change fairly regularly. So, for a recent complete overhaul of the signage (new paint jobs, removal/reinstall @ different locations) we decided to use the 3M 5100series reflective vinyl with "white...
  16. incredibly realistic paintings

unimpressed with most of it, as stated that it may as well have been a photograph.... buuuuut I am definately in love with his Little Mermaid painting :) (not in a creepy way, but pretty darn close!)
  17. 6'x6' MDO

you're best bet is the seamed panel... can make it out of 1-4x8sheet, even. I've also been known to do oversized MDO, by using twice as many sheets of 1/2 thickness of the desired product, and stagger the seams in the two layers before screwing/bonding together. most of the time, however, I...
  18. Getting married Saturday!

best wishes to the newlyweds and for a rockin' reception/honeymoon!
  19. Hey Colorado you have any openings?

vacation update: turning 30 in February and was planning a ski trip to visit my sister in Idaho..... plans now changed to her meeting me in CO, if she wants to see me at all. Curious to see what type of scene will "sprout" up in the next few months. Partying on college campus in Boulder, then...
