A lot of times the graininess you get on prints, from otherwise healthy printers, is caused by by the motor speed. Go into your printer settings in Flexi and override the motor speed to slow it down. That should allow you to print bi-directional without graininess. Flexi profiles usually default...
I would check the bottom of the print head to make sure ink isn't building up and creating inkcicles that are allowing ink to drop off the head while printing. Also, update the firmware to the latest version. The CJV150s had a few issues out of the box that Mimaki fixed with a firmware update.
Take the CJV150 and add a second print head. Now you have a CJV300. The quality will be the same and the speeds will be as fast or faster depending on the ink setup. To take advantage of the fastest speed you want to set it up with CMYKx2.
I have never been a fan of adding colors other than...
That's a good question. The reason one pattern would fire correctly and one not is that these heads fire more than one sized dot. This is what variable dot pattern means when you see it on the printer specs. The easiest dot pattern for the print head to fire is the largest. That is the on that...
I agree about the Mutoh 2638 printer. It's fast and reliable. You can also get the heavy duty take up reel which helps a lot with dye sublimation as the feed of the material is consistent across an entire roll. Your budget is perfect for this printer. Feel free to give us a call for more...
Make sure when you installed Flexi that you checked the box that says, "Sentinel Security Driver". If you didn't, you will have to go into the CD contents and run the Sentinel security driver setup program before it will recognize it. Make sure it isn't plugged in when you install the driver. If...
The main difference between the 1604 and the 1614 is motor speeds and ink flow. The firmware allows the 1614 to have 3 different motor speeds, whereas the 1604 has only 2. The 3rd motor speed on the 1614 is faster than the 1604's top speed. To handle the extra speed they changed the dampers to...
In your case you have a couple options. You can just get Flexi Designer for $995 or $29.99 per month so your designer can keep what they are used to and then print and cut from Versaworks. Or if you need to be able to cut from Flexi as well, you can get Flexi Sign for $1695 which allows you to...
How are you calculating how much ink of each color should be used? Remember, yellow and magenta are used the most by far with black being used the least in most shops. Ink usage calculations are generally not very accurate so what I am getting at is you may not being missing as much ink as you...
It sounds like you don't have a real need for Flexi unless you don't have any software at all or you mainly design through Flexi. What brand of machine/s do you have? I'm not sure if you have a printer but both your printer and cutter should have software that came with it. If you are just...
Oh man! Congratulations on the head not being damaged!
It wasn't today but one of my biggest mess ups was working on a machine early on in my career before I was trained properly. I didn't take a picture of some cables I had to replace before I took them out and ended up putting them in...
As someone who has installed over 100 dx4 print heads I can say without a doubt that the head rank has little to no impact on the head life or quality. I have entered the head rank and not entered it and the same results occur every time. I never input it anymore. To be fair, there are techs I...
How does your nozzle check look? The first thing I check in these cases is if the nozzles are deflecting after sitting for a while.
If the nozzle check looks good, the hazy cyan around the print indicates an electrical problem. Since you were working on the machine I would suspect that during...
You have an electrical issue. Usually the problem is in the print head cables and/or longer cables that go back to the head boards. Check all of the connections to make sure something didn't pop out or ink got into the terminals. You could try changing the cables to be sure. Other than that, if...
Have you made any changes to the computer recently? Did you add any new languages to your operating system and/or spell check application? Here are some things to check:
1. Make sure you are up to date on all of your security updates from Windows.
2. Make sure you are up to date on all of the...
Printing on vinyl in high head height mode will cause this issue no doubt. The reason your head is striking the material in low head height mode is because your heat settings are too high. I generally set the temps for regular vinyl around 35/37/50. The idea is to get the material as hot as...
Are you having any banding problems? You could try to run the print feed calibration to make the print length more accurate. If you are getting banding, that could be the issue. Also, the older the pinch rollers are, the harder it is for the printer to stay accurate. Do you know how old the...
