  1. Help with new printer purchase

Isn't the business part of this, he's saving $1,000's upon $1,000s of dollars a year by NOT going to a regular sign shop ?? The very fact that a sign shop...... any sign shop is not getting his business is the whole point of this. He'd be a nice account to have, but like so many people these...
  2. Help with new printer purchase

No, it's not funny, it's quite sad. However, nice story Frankie, but you left out a few details. Nobody really cares if you try your hand at making your own signs and many here have told you what to do and what to use, but you just wanna harp on those that are giving you some sound advice of...
  3. Ghosts in the machine

Some kinda glass compound. Has a little grit in it and will take the year's worth of grime buildup and other contaminates off. Kinda like the marks your wipers make after years of wiping the same area.
  4. Help with new printer purchase

No, not a high opinion, but I am a bit more than a macadam line painter. Put that up against 47 years doing it all, except bending neon. You're here a year and a half, which makes you an expert in most areas, I presume, huh ?? For the OP to side with your remarks, just goes to show what he's...
  5. Help with new printer purchase

Yo, Frankie.......... I'm not bashing you nor am I upset about you being here. I'm simply stating the facts as presented to me. I have no problems helping other people in my same trade/industry. You, on the other hand, are neither a sign person nor sign maker, so tell me again why I or...
  6. Help with new printer purchase

Ya know, now this is the kinda attitude that burns my a$$. That and 4' flames. :flamey: You come here with not even an ounce of knowledge, but yet, you..... who knows absolutely NOTHING can determine which posts add value or not. The only value here is what most are saying good and/or...
  7. Lighted Sign Panel

If you don't have equipment you trust, I would use translucent for everything but the little bees. The registering of the grey will be a little tiresome, but a much better and longer lasting job, in the end.
  8. I think I am in the wrong business

I think there's a little too much negative space................... also, did they use Photoshop to time hasten the rotten image ?? See, all kindsa sign stuff being used. it's more a sign, than a work of art. I give it a 78. Has a good theme.
  9. UV printing on wood - white underbase suggestions?

With that kinda wood, you need a sealer. Perhaps 2 coats are needed. (you can get a sealant/primer one step, but I wouldn't recommend that) Then, a primer or two, followed with two top coats. Your time invested now, will be about a week for the process. Why not use MDO wood. It's great for...
  10. Help with new printer purchase

People do what they wanna do, and generally don't take advice, unless it backs up their thoughts already. Saying this, I can't understand how you think a buncha people who place flat rocks on a driveway or mow grass sitting on their butt all day are gonna wanna or even get good at wrapping...
  11. Discussion I would like a forum to brag

Very nice. So what or how did you make this project ??
  12. UV printing on wood - white underbase suggestions?

How 'bout a clue as to what kinda plywood you are using ?? 1/2" isn't really enough information. Regardless, to do it correctly, you're gonna need at least one coat primer and two top coats. That's about 2 days worth of painting. Most primers you can put a top coat on within 4 to 6 hours...
  13. Here We Go Again, loop de loop

Ahhh.... are we suppose to be looking at something or just using our imagination ?? oops, I see it now........................
  14. Question How do you feel about this....................... ??

They sent a notice out about the minimum order taking place on December something. Since my BO will only come to about $125. there's a good possibility it might happen. As for the freight part, that's already happened to me with other people years ago. Just wondering what others thought...
  15. Suggestions How do you get rid of unprepared customers?

Pick me...... pick me....... pick me............ I'm a good people person. I know what to tell them.:pops_blinking: I usually assess the situation and if they start taking more than 5 or 10 minutes and close down to any help, I just tell them, you can sit over there and call whomever you like...
  16. Blistering From Paint Mask Removal

You're not using foam tape. It'll only be the thickness of a pubbie hair.
  17. Question How do you feel about this....................... ??

The company is in Ohio. Totally all American made stuff. The bulk of the weight will be coming tomorrow. The part not coming, probably will weigh about 4lbs. I think this is the first time in about 16 years, that they've back-ordered something. Just when their new rules are going into...
  18. Question How do you feel about this....................... ??

Ordered some things yesterday from a distributor whom we've been getting from for years. As of December 15th or so, they are putting into effect a minimum order of $150. Fine. Placed my order which came to several hundred dollars. It consisted of various items. Fine. Everything was checked...
  19. Blistering From Paint Mask Removal

If you tinted your size, you tinted far too much, unless you're just putting it on too thick. Also, are you waiting for the size to almost dry before lifting the mask ?? If so, you should remove the mask almost immediately. As for temperatures, 50º is fine, just not comfortable for you. I...
  20. Need Help Pole Banner Hardware

There're many distributors who handle this kinda mounting system. For sh!ts & giggles, I googled it and instantly came up with over a dozen types and places to get them. How hard did you real-ly try ??
