  2. Can I print over a print?

it should work, but much like painting over sharpie marker... you'll need a heavy coat to hide the original image. double-strike black field. let dry and repeat if necessary. OR if you have any lint-free rags available that you don't mind trashing... use your solvent cleaning solution to...
  3. Masking Tape for printed material.

RTape will work just fine. I use it all the time, as well as a locally produced "house brand", on unlaminated prints without issue.
  4. best practices for laminating

I started out using a sled, 5 years ago, but now am able to web my laminator with only scrapping <1foot of material. I just pull it through, tack it to the back of my laminator, and use masking tape to hold my print square while I crank down my rollers to the desired pressure. +1 to never...

  6. Where could I get this Lightbox?

never hurts to hire an electrician... cause it could if you don't :) rip it, sand it, weld it, paint it, stick it back up!
  7. Test print

while you have a tech coming in, i'd have him install the new printhead on the Black channel, and use the Black Head with the misfiring nozzles on the Yellow channel. you'll still be limping on a mediocre printhead, but your alignments will be better (less banding) since the alignment...
  8. Some advice from the experts please

wish my shop was that clean! but ummmm.... i wouldn't bid on it, being a 30" setup and all. to each his own, i guess. Seems like a good deal at the $5k reserve, when you get all the extras, but after running a 60" printer and 48" plotter, there's no way I would go back to anything smaller...
  9. printing inaccurate lengths (160sp)

my guess at the intermittent distance issue: are you taping your print to the take-up roll? That's where you might be adding the extra "slip" at different intervals.
  10. Test print

head strike I'd imagine. your head is fried. take a peek underneath and you'll most likely fine a scratch across the center of the printhead.
  11. F*&% pos **%$&* $&*&

make your own autosave feature? funny how this can be programmed yourself, but adobe didn't feel the need to add it as a feature. Scripting an autosave feature in Illustrator using the actions palette.

  17. Anyone live in Toronto?

he's digging deep for an underproduced deluxe silver vinyl by 3M/Gerber. bonus points for creative thinking :)
  18. JPG Properties settings

watermarked, with copyright jargon added, low-resolution, with a high-resolution sampling saved into a .pdf at the "smallest filesize" setting, for quick email viewing but looks like garbage if you try working on it as a production file. if they're going to pirate my artwork, they're gonna have...
  19. OMG - I forgot to move the head back to capping station!!!

aye, i'm a once-a-week scrubber/flusher, but I do clean the capping station and wiper daily before I do any printing... that is, unless my test draw shows anything but 100% nozzles firing(ok, ok, i'll settle for no less than 95%), then I go to work and whip my printer back into shape!
