Did you test your idea of applying over transfer tape?
I'm skeptical of it working.
If its a simple shape they should be able to apply the graphic themselves.
I haven't sold any of these yet, but one of my best customers wants to get some.
I see some really good prices from some recommended merchants, in the back of sign mags and online but
I'm concerned about quality, especially of the pole & stake.
Can anyone give me recommendations for vendors that...
I like Moze's suggestion, use an ACM panel, probably cheaper, better looking and longer lasting.
But if you have to you can clean & prime with something like Kilz and then a gloss oil base paint.
Of course you realize you will also be told you are a hack soiling the reputation of a once great craft.
hmmm...I've always thought all those Gemini resellers sites were just that, someone who set up a site to resell Gemini letters ,not some nefarious plot on Geminis part to sell to end users direct. I do know that years ago I accidentally called a few of those resellers after looking up a number...
If I had a regular customer that made the same mistake I would charge a restocking fee and move on.
All this guy is going to remember is that he was made to pay for his mistake, right or wrong, and that may be all it takes to lose a customer.
If I was to start over at this point I would focus on high end dimensional signs, including installation. Seems to be the one area (along with the big boys doing electric work) that can't be done by hacks or rolled in a tube and shipped.
Must be more than a few stupid sign shops around here. Pretty common to see ACM or aluminum panels with digital prints fastened to a dump truck. Or like one of our customers, 4mm ACM cut out reflective logos fastened to the sides & tailgates of dump trailers, been using them for 15 years. I'll...
Forget what I said, I was talking about a dump truck like OP posted a pic of. That looks like a homemade POS and there's no good way to make it work. Maybe what Marlene suggested, but the best thing it to tell him to break out his welder again and put a steel plate on there.
We have done it with 4mm or 6mm ACM. It must be fastened tightly and preferably also have a beads of silicone. Those get slammed & bounced HARD and anything not well fastened won't last long.
