It isn't actually. I forward apply (1st surface) the print with translucent white, and second surface apply the clear. The 3/16" thickness of the polycarb helps minimize registration problem.
I mostly made that recommendation on the assumption that you prefer or needed to second surface mount...
Interesting method. But it seems to me that your prints would end up too dark during the day, because of those 2 layers stacked right on each other.
Try this: Apply 1 layer of second surface printed transparent vinyl, then apply 1 layer of second surface printed white translucent vinyl.

I don't do much by way of highway signs... but I see that my version of Composer comes with Highway Gothic B, C, D, E & F. There aren't similar true type ones that you can purchase?
Also, a lot of states are switching to Clearface I think.
A former aquaintance of mine works for trailer manufacturer... We once got on the subject of VHB, since they go through scads of it. He mentioned a price that was about 1/2 to 2/3 of what we would pay from a sign supplier.
Wish I had asked where they ordered it from, but I know it was by the...
I use registration marks (the print/cut alignment ones / 4 circles at the corners) anytime I am laminating OR any time there is a full bleed (because of edge curling/shrinking issues when not allowed to dry overnight)
It's only rarely that I do a print/cut without taking the sheet out...
Not sure how to fix your issue, but it should be possible... I know the manual has some suggestions on how to bring it in line.
I have a 5 year old VP540 and routinely do large runs print/lam/cut. Even some 12 footers that stayed within a 1/8" tolerance. Nearly every job in the 4 to 6 foot...
Yes to wet mount. It helps if the decal is oversized so that you don't have to worry as much about fingerprints.
FYI, DO NOT use any IPA to clean the acrylic, most especially if the edges were flame polished......
When you want it to show as black, the standard thing is to use normal opaque black.
It doesn't exist, it's literally impossible to reflect an absence of color/light.
Find my Font came up with LHF Colonial Roman at an 84% match
and many thanks to Fred (and others) recommendation for this program, it's so easy to use. I ended up getting it for 4 of us at the shop...
Almost certainly yes, no hesitation about that machine.
Other laminators might in fact be better, but I have only worked with this one and have no complaints.
Only loosely related - we paid off our printer this month. It was a horrible lease deal where we ended up paying 2 times the purchase...
I have this exact model. Pretty much as stated above what to check for (no heat on these).
They can be a little finicky, mostly just in terms of having a lot of little safeties that all have to be just so before it runs. We have used ours for 10+ years with no major issues, at least none cause...
Hah! Yep that would be a fancy shear alright....
Sorry I missed that detail.
I would send out for CNC cut blanks, then apply vinyl on my bench 1 at a time. I would probably setup a little jig system so I don't have any trouble lining them up.
