I still have a Spar-Cal catalog...
2001 Black is just a basic black, though not high-gloss, more like a satin to semi-gloss kind of sheen.
It's listed as under the heading:
PROMO-PLUS 3.2 MIL Calendered Vinyl, 5 Year Exterior Life
It appears to be a LEDCO ECONOCRAFT laminator that was repurposed to just mask at some point. There does seem to be a few missing bits.
We have a 60" version that we still use for laminating and works just as good now as 10 years ago.
If you still need help, I can open in Illy CS5 and convert to a PLT for you.

Basic, Intermediate & Complex refer to the layout complexity.
Part of that it how much time it takes to layout the job and how much extra time and materials it takes to complete it.
The modern digital printed sign eliminates some of the cost, but not all. Additionally, the value is still there...
I get that alot with certain vinyls, esp. intermediate Oracals. Seems to be media related like static or something. But yes, generally the cyan is the problem oddly enough.
Here is my logic in general terms:
The digital print life should match the substrate.
A coro sign only need intermediate vinyl, no lam (or maybe intermediate lam if I feel like abrasion might be an issue)
An aluminum sign could last for years, and therefore gets the benefit of cast vinyl...
While I am certain that the sample was Gerber's version, those fonts can't be used outside of that program. Next best choice is something in the Zapf Humanist 601 font family, one of the Optima varients.
Be a little simpler to print with margin/trim marks then you don't have to bother with the plotter cutting. Then apply to end roll or oversized piece of piece of mag and trim to marks.
