  1. More mimaki jf 1531 issues. What is error 04

Most of the time it means your main board's ROM is blown. Try re-uploading the parameters and if it keeps giving you the error, it's dead. I went through this with a JV3 and Mac Media attempted to fix it but they couldn't figure it out.
  2. 5 Ways to Extend The Life of Your Print Heads

I will add that in. Thanks for the feedback!
  3. 5 Ways to Extend The Life of Your Print Heads

We just posted an article on our blog at Solventinkjet.com that deals with extending the life of your print heads. It's a great read for beginners and new printer owners. There may be a few bits that you savvy Signs101 users might enjoy as well. Let us know what you think! 5 Ways to Extend The...

  5. Contour Cut off on Mimaki CG-160FX

You are going to need to run a print/cut alignment through the service menu. You are going to need the pen that came with the machine to do this. Then you can tweek it in the Mark Detect menu by as low as 1/10th of a mm to get it close to perfect. PM me and I can get you a tech manual that walks...
  6. Best RIP software for small business...

The software that new Mimakis come with is a Wasatch RIP branded for Mimaki. I would assume that would give Wasatch a slight edge as they have worked together with Mimaki to optimize the workflow. I have heard good things about Onyx but not enough experience to give you more info.
  7. Vertical Lines Issue

Isopropyl alcohol and a lint free cloth or swab. If you can't get the cloudiness out, I would replace the strip. Also, something I didn't think of before, when the head moves back and forth does it make a rattling noise? You may have a bearing problem.
  8. Profile issues help

I would open the file in Illustrator and change the color settings to CMYK. You will see a noticeable change in the color because Illustrator tries to convert the RGB space to CMYK. Try printing it and see if that works. Other than that, play around with the rendering intents for the RGB...
  9. Vertical Lines Issue

I had a customer with the same problem yesterday. Check your encoder strip. Even if it is perfectly clean, is it cloudy? A good encoder strip should look very clear. The spacing and frequency of the banding looks like the encoder is just getting inconsistent data. If all looks good it could be a...
  10. Please ask you admin to setup tcp/ip

That is how it should be set up. Now you just have to check the computer's IP address and make sure the first 3 sets of numbers match the printer's IP address and the last number is different. Think of it this way: 192.168.001.XXX is the neighborhood that your computer and printer live in. The...
  11. Please ask you admin to setup tcp/ip

If you did a back up recovery, most likely your IP settings were set back to the defaults. Check the IP address in the printer and write it down. Then check your IP address for the computer. The first 3 sets of numbers should match: Example: First 3 sets of numbers on the printer are probably...
  12. Roland SC500 cant print full banner

Usually when memory is damaged or failing the print will just stop completely. In this case I would say you have a plumbing issue. I would double check your ink lines for any air that may be sneaking in and also check that when you run a cleaning, ink actually flows through your waste tubes. It...
  13. Cleaned my encoder strip

Adding my .02. The two most common errors seen when an encoder strip is dirty or damaged is stepping in your print/defects that only happen in one area of the printer and/or scan motor errors. Never clean the encoder with solvent cleaning solution. Also, on Mimaki JV3s if your encoder sensor is...
  14. Strange drips on prints from JV33

I have seen this happen when the rail is greased too much causing it to drip on to the vinyl. Also, it could just be the material or how you are storing it. Check for leaks near your storage area.
  15. Mimaki cutting issue

Did this problem happen out of the blue after using it problem free fore a while or is this a brand new machine and your first time cutting with it?
  16. Roland SP300 Problems

Your crop mark sensor is not adjusted. That is why you are getting service error 0111. PM me for a service manual if you don't have one yet. You are going to need to go into service mode to run the sensor adjustment and I would also recommend running the encoder setup and calibration while you...
  17. Mutoh 1204 Refurb

If it ain't broke don't fix it. That being said, I would replace the parts that are recommended to be replaced for regular maintenance such as the dampers/orings, maintenance station, sponges and wiper. Other than that I would clean up as much ink as possible, check and clean the encoder strip...
  18. Roland Techs in the Cincinnati area?

+1 on Chris Wallace. I have never heard any bad reviews on his work.
  19. Got new Roland XR-640 delivered today but Guess what ?

In my experience these machines sit in a warehouse for unknown amounts of time. Usually a new cap top will fix the issue due to the heads sitting on them for so long and flattening out. Hopefully it's as simple as that.
  20. Dripping wet prints! New Caldera VisualRip

I don't have a lot of experience with Caldera but in Flexi there is a setting to use color correction that can be turned on and off. Even if you have a profile selected, it doesn't actually apply it unless this option is turned on. It seems to me that could be whats happening in your case...
