Non-Oem heads will not work in the JV5. The error message you are getting is telling you that the machine does not recognize that head. You may have seen something about the Epson head working in a low firmware version JV33 but to my knowledge it will not work at any firmware in the JV5.
There are two heating elements in the front heater. I doubt they both would fail at the same time unless it was a heater control board or heater relay board going bad. Check to see if one side of the heater seems to be warming up. If so it could be the thermistor which is a cheap and easy fix...
Overspray on a new head is almost always a bad head cable or improperly installed cable. Check to make sure there is no ink on the leads of the cable and that it is installed perfectly flat with no bends or buckling. Other than that it could be many other electrical issues ranging from a board...
When you do the alignments in service mode, you are essentially setting base points for the real alignment. You have to do the user alignments to get everything in to shape. You can find the Drop Pos alignment in user mode by going here: Function>Setup>Select Type>(scroll down a few to find Drop...
Unless you need to add a contour cut or edit the file in any way you should just bring the file into the production manager side and not the editor. You can re-size and edit profile settings etc without it actually opening the file for editing. Otherwise, you should be able to open(not import) a...
Draw a line vertically, copy it 9 times, set 2 of the lines outside the rest and at 10"s apart, select all and use illustrator's distribute horizontally tool, copy the result and rotate 90 degrees and presto 10x10 grid.
You can just change the cap and without changing the pump or slider. Push the cap down and pull to the left and up. Sometimes you have to wiggle it a little to have it pop out. Detach the tubes from the cap. They are friction fit, so you can just pull them off. If they feel like they are...
I install many CJV30s a year and have a lot of customers who use a MAC to design. I have set it up 2 ways. You can get a PC laptop and network it with the MAC. Then you can use the FineCut (Works on MAC) plug-in for Corel or Illustrator to send the jobs over to the PC for printing and cutting...
If you pulled from the bottom of the cap tops and got air, the air came from the cap not sealing up properly and not from the ink lines. You can tell if there is air in the ink lines just by looking at them. Your dampers should be about half full and usually if there is air in the lines it is...
If you are soaking the head outside the printer, overnight shouldn't be a problem. You will want to flush the head with a syringe before you put it back in as that will get the debris out of the head before it gets a chance to dry up again. What you are hopping for when you soak a head is for...
If the problem goes away on lower quality print modes it is usually a head issue. When printing in lower quality the head does not use the variable dot function and only prints the biggest dots. Usually when a head is going bad it will show up when the head prints the finer dots as it takes more...
For used machines out of the box and on the stand we use a furniture moving company. They use moving blankets and wrap it up to make sure it doesn't get banged up. You should get some foam or bubble wrap to place against the head and tape it so the head does not move during shipping. Also, make...

The ES3 inks are not very scratch resistant compared to the SS21. Normally you would have to laminate almost everything you print for outdoor use. SS21 inks do not require special ventilation but you would want a room with a window as it does have a nominal odor when printing full coverage...
Error 205 means a fuse was blown. You can change the head and cables all you want but it will always give you that error until you replace the fuse. If you get a tech, make sure you get one who has the know how to test your PCBs with electronic testing equipment.
bloobird0 is spot on. I install a good amount of CJV30s every year. The one complaint I see on signs 101 is that the prints can have banding from the first print on. Make sure your installer does all of the required alignments. He/she should be trained by Mimaki and should know how to set up the...
