That's true, but they should be able to provide clean files that are capable of being set up without having to spend a lot of time getting rid of garbage that is "hidden".

I do. Part of their job is to provide files in the appropriate format for the output. Or at the minimum, provide the file type asked for. I had a big shot NYC designer who couldn't get why I wanted him to convert the text to vector. He spent more time complaining than it would have taken to do it.

If you have any concerns about being able to do this I would get a price from a metal polishing shop. There is usually one that does this type of work for a lot of different businesses

1000 s/f? That's a good size space. Your questions are way too vague. You need to do your research. It's obvious you have no experience.

You need to narrow down your options and provide more info before asking for advice. For instance...will any of these products be used outside? You say you're going to work out of your home, what kind of space do you have? What kind of budget do you have? What machines and service providers do...

Are they hemmed? If just flat, hire someone part time to cut them.

Yep, depends on the design. Even if it's a high end long term sign it may require digital prints, they just need to know they will have to be replaced

I think the ones i the pic are the ones Gino is showing, but the other type is also good. The corners are pretty heavy duty though and if cost (not looks) is a concern they may be cheaper.

Such a shame, but they have no one to blame but themselves. There machines invented computerized sign making. And they made great machines, their plotters and the Edge are some of the best stuff ever built. I still like Omega for sign design, some of it's design capabilities can't be beat. But...
