Shoot, maybe just laminate a sheet of transfer tape with your digital print if you need to mcguyver a temp overlay. No need to order a roll of material at that point

that's the culprit! black printhead! +1 to your print being purple because your printhead isn't laying the black ink on top of the magenta ink properly to make the color your profile is specifying. printing at 4pass/8pass may reflect differences because your printhead will use different lines...

if you have a solvent printer, you most likely can pull it off. latex as well. eco-solvent, not so much. there's also plenty of low-tack vinyl out there that's made for any printer.

power-down your machine, unplug from wall, and press your power button a couple of times to discharge any stored energy. then unplug the cables from the head that's throwing the error code and reseat them properly. may have just come loose?

done anything out of the ordinary with your printer lately? I think that's the code I received when I accidentally flip-flopped the two ribbon cables on one of my heads during an install.

channel - ink line. like my mimaki jv3 has 4 printheads and 8 channels each controlled by their own ribbon cable.

if not finding a job at a sign shop... outsource your prints. learn how to build a client-base and what you need to charge to make a profit before "diving in" to printing. whatever you think you're going to spend on a used setup.... double, or even triple, the cost. someone's selling it cheap...

i get 12 pairs for $7 at Blain's Farm & Fleet. Great for polishing installed projects and clients have praised the "white glove treatment".

hot, cold, humid, doesn't matter. cold laminate is just clear vinyl, and will stick just fine without heat. "heat assist" won't really warm your media, but it softens the adhesive of the laminate and helps it "flow" better. "silvering" comes out with care during application, but I have yet to...

tabs of thick double-sided tape (thickness is KEY), VHB thickness being a minimum. And smears/dabs of 100% silicone caulk between the tabs. If you use thin double-sided tape, you spread the silicone too thin and its worthless.
