  1. Ye olde Camm-1 cable question

Hi and thanks Hopefully getting it tomorrow. I've had the plotter since 1989 so couldn't conceive that this is possible!
  2. Ye olde Camm-1 cable question

Hi Been away from Signs101 for a long time but good to come back hoping for help! I love my poor old Roland camm-1 and trying to make it last as long as I do. Wondering what to do about its old cable which needs a com1 (?) [19+ pins monster] port which new computers don't seem to have...
  3. Epoxy sticker maker

Hi I have a customer that needs what they call 'bubble' stickers. A printed sticker that has a clear epoxy (?) coating that is thick and creates a 3D look. I know what they are but it's been so long I have no idea what they are called. I think it was mostly a little oven thingy to bake the...
  4. Your Website - best features

Hi I'm in the process of building myself a website. Wondering if there is anything about your website that you consider a good feature. Any ideas that you think are worth considering. What do the visitors to your site want to see or find out about as opposed to what we think they should be...
  5. Lettering Pricing

Black and Crack A painted black background can result in a broken window if the window gets enough sun and the black holds the heat in.
  6. Old Camm1 Plotter problems

thumper Thanks one and all. That is what I suspected but just not sure. I'll look into it. Maybe swearing at it in Russian would be effective! (But how could I swear at such an ol' friend?)
  7. Hello from a newspaper guy in Texas

Give up ! Mr Calvert just doesn't know when to quit! Go away ! Ignorance is bliss. He just doesn't know all the stuff that we know from years of experience and would take ages to explain to him. Get the contract, do the job the way you think it should be done and take responsibility for the...
  8. Old Camm1 Plotter problems

Hi I am still using my Camm1 which I bought new in 1989 (!) I've rarely been self-employeed so it's had an easy life, even looks close to new. Now that I am semi-retired and poor at the moment I am hesitant to buy a new plotter, maybe later in the year. Wondering if anyone remembers having...
  9. Signlab and JPGs

Hi I'll be upgrading from my very old version of Signlab to the latest version as soon as I can (poor me is poor at the moment due to building a house). My old version can't do anything with jpg or any bitmap type files (?) except import them. I do any photo editing in Photoshop and...
  10. G'day from Cobargo

Cobargo Hi Dave Cobargo is on the far south coast of NSW, just north of Bega and south of Narooma. Pocky little town (or some word much smaller then town) which could not support a Signie if he had to earn a proper income. Semi-retiring to the country and working part-time is pretty good.
  11. G'day from Cobargo

Lucky me . . . I've been to almost all the cities or states or provinces you all live in. Even Nova Scotia ( and Nuffieland)
  12. Can Signlab do this ?

Computer Thanks George. Because of my old version of Signlab I have to run it on an old second computer which is a pain. When I got Signlab it was in the Windows 3.1 days but it will run (with some minor hiccups) in Windows 98 but definitely not XP. So having Signlab on my new computer will...
  13. G'day from Cobargo

Welcome to the States ! Do you mean FROM the States !?! Either way, thanks. I've been to the USA a few times and love it, must get back.
  14. Can Signlab do this ?

Yes ! 1: Hooray ! 2: Hooray ! I seriously expected so but I strongly believe in confirming the obvious before rushuing in. Thanks. I used to combine vector and .jpg in my old pirated copy of Illustrator which I don't want to do anymore and Illustrator can cost as much as Signlab so why...
  15. G'day from Cobargo

Small towns That's so true, word of mouth is big here. If a business can survive without signage then maybe with signage it can grow as new people move to the area and also people passing thru. It's satisfying if you find out a clients business has improved because of better signage.
  16. Can Signlab do this ?

Hi Finally (!) I am wanting to upgrade my ye olde version of Signlab 3.21 I have used version 4.95 (?) several years ago but have no idea what Signlab can do now. I only want to buy a basic version of Signlab as I don't do my own digital printing. There are 2 things I would like to know...
  17. G'day from Cobargo

Hi After living in Sydney Australia for over 40 years I finally escaped 4 years ago to a small small town out in the country (and near the ocean, nice combination!). This town of Cobargo and its surrounding area has never had a qualified signwriter before so it is a wierd experience for all...
