Sorry for the delay in replying - had the cutter apart for cleaning and examination - no issues found.
Tomorrow I'm going to try sending 250 labels again and will report back here :)
I really appreciate your replies and suggestions.
Regards
John
Thanks for the reply.
I only RIP/CUT 250 labels at a time, it's always worked but only now has it started playing up! 250 labels is approx; 1metre in length so not enormous.
Each label has a number and barcode so each label is different but this has always been the case.
So I've been cutting labels without any issues then, all of a sudden the next batch starts to cut in the wrong place! I have no idea why. Instead of the cutter blade going to the far side of the carriage to start cutting, it now moves about 4" and starts cutting!
I've tried switching everything...
Thanks both - I replied to your PM Owen.
My roller definitely doesn't get warm - can't afford the heating :) It's been happening over a couple of years and now getting to be unusable :(
Cheers
John
The best way to describe the roller on my Gerber GS-15Plus is, it's melting!
Just wondering if there's a quick solution to keep me going? I'm in the UK so sending it to the US is not an option at present!!
Cheers
John
I must thank all those who provided ideas and support, as a result, I've managed to carry out a temporary fix with a permanent fix on Tuesday when more suitable parts arrive i.e. 3mm stainless rod & 3mm domed nuts :)
Thanks again, I'm so grateful :)
I discovered the issue!! Pictures might help.
The alignment 'shiny disc' (left) was held on by glue and the spring beneath is missing but I have found it! This disc is used to push the take-up foil roller onto the drive gear, this wasn't happening. The shiny disc was wobbling around and just...
Thanks Joe for taking the time to reply :)
I know the take-up motor is turning as I can see it, the problem is, the roller is not meeting the drive cog! I have been successful in pushing the cassette over so the cog & roller do meet BUT, this is very 'hit & miss'.
The problem appears to be...
Good morning all from a wet UK
My Gerber Edge FX has a problem! When I insert a cassette the take-up roller is not being 'engaged' into the drive gear (hope I explained that adequately) The drive engagement should happen when the cassette lowers for printing - I believe a push mechanism on the...
Sorry for the delay in replying Fletch - I'm afraid I didn't find a parts manual for the FX. If I do, I'll remember to pass it on to you :)

John
I had a similar issue a while back - I cured it by resoldering some of the joints.
I'm sure there are details on this board somewhere.
Good luck from Wales.
Thanks Fred, as always, there to help :)
I actually used a circle of 3M double sided tape to fix the part in place. It's usually screwed but looks as if the screw has snapped!
Having removed the rear cover I could see what the part does - When the foil cassette lowers into position, this part...
Good morning all from the sunny UK.
So I went to our shop this morning to print off 2500 labels. The first colour printed great but when I withdrew the foil a part came out with it!
This is the part:
and it should be located here:
The left
The part seems to be a locator for the foil reel...
Thanks ewded :)
Yes, I was aware that 3 metres was pushing it a bit but, cutting accuracy wasn't an issue for this design.
I've never used registration marks before - I'll need to investigate that.
Thanks
John
Hi guys,
I wonder if someone can assist in rescuing a half done job?
I created a job for 'Print & Cut'. The print went just fine (about 3 metres) but when it came to the end of printing, the BN-20 didn't rewind the vinyl for cutting!
Is there any way I can rescue this job? At present it's...
