Hi Everyone,
I was just commissioned to paint an indoor wall mural at a new school. The room has been wrapped in printed vinyl graphics and they would like me to paint the mural on top of the graphics.
I usually use eggshell latex paint for all my indoor mural work but I am wondering if this...
Build an aluminum sign out of .040 sheets attached to square tubing. Can be built in sections and assembled on site. Frame it out, it should look sweet. Any seams would be barely noticeable.
Had a guy come in yesterday wanting graphics on his van. 5 digitally printed, contour cut logos, doors, side and rear lettering. We measured and gave him a quote. Dude flipped out that we had the nerve to charge him $150 for install. He went on to say he could get the job done for $400.00...
Haha thanks guys. For the record, he isn't literally a crackhead I just can't describe his antics in a better way.
As I said in my OP he is a local guy and was willing to go into BAD neighborhoods that are way under-serviced. So, i took the chance on him. He was here 5 months and brought in...
I recently let my outside sales rep go. It just wasn't working out. Anyway, I got a call today from a shop down the road from me. We do a lot of wholesale work for them and I consider the owner a friend and mentor. Apparently my ex-OSR was in there showing him our work order forms and other...
Interesting points guys!
We don't do too many vehicles in our areas. The competition seems to want to work for nothing. We do mostly storefront signs, awnings, lots of schools and churches, etc.
Not to Hi-jack, just curious why you guys shy away from doing installs?
I've found that installs are profitable and add the full service aspect of our shop.
Also, in most of the towns/cities that we service, all signs must be installed by a Licensed & Insured sign hanger.
Only thing we don't...
Actually whenever I had designed ornamental stuff like what your talking about, I always looked at textiles for inspiration. (I worked as a graphic designer in the fashion industry for years) I would then scan fabrics & patterns that I liked and work on them in Illustrator or start sketching...
+1 For Wypet, use the stuff all them time works great. I actually have a new roll of my supplier's house brand dry erase laminate. Hopefully that works as well as the Wypet stuff.
Is it the background color? We just printed a chocolate brown on our XC-540 that had dark spots and some streaking. I was guessing it was a heat setting.
We ended up doing the job in cut vinyl instead but if I get time today I'll mess around and see.
Post a picture of what you have over there.
We've been using ours since we got it. Mostly use it for premasking and laminating small jobs, so we don't have to switch out the 54" rolls on our Laminator.
Learning was pretty easy, right out the box. Don't be nervous.
Thanks everyone!
I'm going to order a new blade and cutting strip today.
I also will try GP's suggestion with using the 60 degree blade on small stuff.
Any other settings you think I should mess with inside Flexi/Poduction manager itself?
