No. Clean the encoder scale with a dry cloth or alcohol.
  2. internal error 1670462

Error 1650462 is IC 4 and IC 9 regulators overheating on the servo board. Your number is slightly different. Maybe a typo or a similar error? Try cleaning the dust off the servo board if it is dusty.
  3. Cutting problem SP300V

It may be the blade holder. See if there is gunk inside that is not letting the blade turn smoothly. The bearings do go bad also, and it may need to be replaced.
  4. Roland SC540 Printing Poorly

What rip are you using? Versaworks? Anything wrong with the test print? (color?, jets?) Do you just get more red than normal or are you getting red in places where it shouldn't be at all? Do you have the same problem if using old art from a previous job? Is the bad color consistent or does...

  6. VP-540 Feed Motor Error Code 0001... ugh!

Some VP-540s have had problems with ribbon cables starting to slip out of their connections. Since your problem seems intermittent, it could be a loose cable. Unplug the machine before doing anything. Also, expose the feed motor and see if it is actually turning or not. Is something slipping...
  7. Has Anyone Else Experienced This?

I once saw something similar on an sp-300. It was a loose ribbon cable connection to a head. I didn't look for the blinking light. Turn off and unplug the printer before doing anything with cables.
  8. XC-540 walking while cutting long runs, please help!

Another thing to try... Loosen all the bolts connecting the stand to the printer. Re-Tighten the bolts on the BACK of the frame first to make sure the print head is square with the stand. Then Re-tighten the bolts on the bottom of the frame.
  9. VP540 cleaning mode while printing?

I think newer Rolands will do that when they can't detect the chips on the cartridge. I know the XC-540 will do that.
  10. Tech needed in MI [Roland sp-300]

Open the cap tops and move the print head to the side for the moment. Put a few drops of cleaning solution on the cap top of the color that you are having trouble with. Then re-cap the heads and let it sit for about 10-15min followed by a normal cleaning. You can temporarily clamp off...
  11. pinch roller error

Check if the sheet cut blade is running in the groove like it is supposed to. The cut carriage may be twisted a little so the sensor isn't close enough to the metal on the end roller to read it. What error are you getting? What type of Roland is it? Do you get it every time or occasionally?
  12. Roland Price Increase

As of March 1, 2009 the Roland printhead (part number: 1000002201) price will increase from $645.00 to $895.00. If you were on the fence about replacing a head, you might want to try to get it in before the price goes up.
  13. Can I print pieces of Vinyl

The XC-540 doesn't detect the material it detects the 2 outside wheels. The outside wheels have metal plates on them. I always just use setup ROLL and measure lengths if I think it will be close. Otherwise I think that the printer just wastes time finding the leading and trailing edges of the...
  14. Ink dropouts creating banding issues

If there isn't any air in the lines then I would check the seal from the damper to the manifold on the Printhead. It could be a cracked manifold if it is always the same color. If it is all different colors then ????
  15. Pump trouble maybe?!!!

Exactly what type of problem are you having with the printer? If you have ink flowing through the printhead and ink flowing through the captop then to test the pumps -- First check that the drain tubes aren't clogged then, the easiest way to test is to pull up the drain tubes and do a cleaning...
  16. cutting magnetic

Cut the magnets about 80% of the way through and then tear them out. Use a 60 degree blade. Because of the weight of magnet material, to get an accurate cut, use more wheels or stay with the machine during cutting and help the magnet media feed back and forth.
