  1. Question 3M Cast vinyl shortage?!?!

Pooling is a term used by the manufacturer when ink does not lay evenly. You will see white spots. (Like Jester said). Think of oil coated onto the top face and ink not sticking to those areas. This was a problem on short rolls of 180cv3 and then 3m asked me if I had seen it on large rolls as...
  2. Question 3M Cast vinyl shortage?!?!

A lot of mis-information on this post. I have been aware of this situation for 2 weeks and literally just spoke to 3M a few minutes ago. 3M has been having issues with pooling on their films (this was confirmed by my inside 3M sales rep). I brought this to our suppliers attention in September...

  4. I need help on how many yards I need to wrap vehicle

Typically you can order a 25 yard roll and that will cover an entire vehicle including some extra things like door jambs and spoilers, etc. If you are trying to order "just enough", that is not a good idea. If you are not proficient with wrapping cars you would like to have some extra on hand...
  5. Flexi19 RIP issues

So I did a system restore to 11/26/19. Bingo! It worked. So it appears that there is a new set of bugs with the latest updates on windows. Thank you to all who gave input. I will be printing again tomorrow. Also, I do not hold more than 5 files at a time.
  6. Flexi19 RIP issues

The files from earlier still do not work. I tried even printing a simple .jpeg. No luck. Even the flexi test print will not process. There is some sort of rip issue but I cannot figure it out. Flexi is on a stand alone computer. All print files are sent over a network to the printer. I even...
  7. Flexi19 RIP issues

So I have been going along with SAi19 using production manager to print to an HP360. Well preparing files to print for tomorrow Friday, my RIP just gets stuck in Processing. Nothing happens. It just tries to rip the file with no luck. I uninstalled SAi and re-installed the program. No luck. My...
  8. HP 360 Yellow / Magenta issues

I have been experiencing issues with our 360. It will do a printhead alignment fine, it even start to print perfect. About 5 feet into the print the yellow/magenta head starts to spit onto the print. After that print is done I get an error to change the bad printhead. I replaced both heads with...
  9. vinyl, laminate, outgassing and alligator bubbles

Hey Newbie, you were flamed because you probably (I'm guessing) chose this material and did the job all the while undercutting another sign shop. Suppliers will push anything to make a sale. While many of us have paid our dues and set shop rates, new shops open and cut our knees. We explain to...
  10. 3MIJ180Cv3 Is anyone else having a problem with the vinyl?

The real kick in the groin is, the carrier sheets are thinner on both the laminate and film causing issues. So 3M reduced cost on the film manufacturing process but increase film prices every year. It's hard to tell people vinyl is a petroleum product and continually increase the price when gas...

  12. 1614a valuejet printing issues

I had just picked up a 1614a printer. It had done a palette print before moving with no issues. When installing the printer in its new location I am having issues. The printer starts up and does everything just fine. I try to print another palette print with no success. I called mutoh and we...

  14. Wrapping a Truck Hood

When you run 60" material you charge for all 60" that come off the machine. Your only talking about $100 more on the very high side to run everything on 60" when doing large wraps. You guys crack me up when you try to cut corners. Lets see, you load the printer 3 different times, you load...
  15. Calling all WRAPPERS.............

Here is one simple solution. Why doesnt the installer take the total width of the printed panels which I'm guessing would be 52"ish and add all 13 panels up and figure his bleed? ie: trailer is 636"/53' 13 printed panels @ 50" = 650" That way he can start in the rear and work...
  16. Nissan and 3M....how ironic!

People why don't you see the bigger picture? mmm is now targeting your clients too. You may not do wraps but still this is a previous customer that you wont even do his large graphics for anymore! There will come a day when they design your clients wrap also. They are on track to eat up all...
  17. Screw you 3M.

Finished our 1st non 3M job today. We typically spend about $150K a year on wrap 3 m film. Was surprized at the films ability to react to the contours of this boat. I liked the Oracal film. Would recommend it to others.
  18. 1080 black carbon fiber weird "crinkles" after installation

Looks like the vinyl stuck to itself and you pulled it apart in those areas which would damage the adhesive. So no it won't fix itself. Why didn't you start on the flat portion and work towards the rear of the vehicle? That way you won't distort the carbon fiber lines on the horizontal surface...
