  1. Revive Flexi Mac as Designer ONLY

Wow. So SAi just quickly responded to this request we made directly to them. "Thank you for contacting us. We are actually developing a Mac version of Flexi Design. We hope to release at the end of the year. " THANK YOU SAi!!!!!!!!!!!!
  2. Revive Flexi Mac as Designer ONLY

With Apples move to use their own M1 chip in all new Macs, it appears that using a virtual windows environment such as Parallels or VMware Fusion is probably at the end of life for using Flexi on a Mac. We've enjoyed, without too much hassle, using Flexi Designer this way for the last 6 years or...
  3. Gerber Announces Discontinuation of all Flatbed Printers

Will run the Cat till it stops purring We have the Cat and absolutely love it. We upgraded from the Ion with a gantry replacement keeping only the table. First replacement unit was a lemon and had to be replaced. Very difficult weeks for our business, but Gerber came through. Four weeks now...
  4. According to Signweb

Yes. Bad news. We have Gerber Cat UV and this machine is rock solid amazing. We upgraded from the Ion and this is superb. Can't believe they are dropping such a high quality product. Hoping a smart company out there buys this technology from Gerber and keeps this alive.
  5. Any Reviews/thoughts on the Gerber Solara ion?

Love the Ion also. We've had the Ion X model for 18 months. Runs 8 to 16 hours a day.The new Gerber Cat is much better and incredible printing. Looking to upgrade now. I haven't owned a Gerber product since the original cutters and I must say the tech support is fantastic. I would like to have...
  6. Hello From Wisconsin

My understanding from Gerber is the ion ink will stick well to extruded acrylic, but not cast acrylic. Haven't tried it ourselves. For what it's worth . . . If you need to print to something like .020 matte polycarbonate (reverse print) don't waste your time . . . unless . . . you buy this...
  7. Gerber Ion reliability and ink cost

I agree with all the above positive comments. A bit rough starting out, but running all day and then some every day and the process just gets better with every upgrade Gerber performs on the machine. I would not own any printer like this without a warranty. Just too risky with this technology...
  8. Flat Bed Printer

Gerber Ion - YES We've had the Gerber Ion X for over a year now and absolutely love it. Sticks to coro fantastically and lasts outdoors just like new for the year we've been printing. There have been some machine issues which Gerber has been quick to service and replace parts as needed. Can't...

  10. Going To See an Agfa in Action

Gerber Ion owner for 10 months. Very happy with purchase. Some issues all along, but quick response by Gerber service. Yes, large picoliter ink drops produce grainier prints. New ion Z model is incredibly better, but not yet released. Talked to Gerber President at Orlando show and should be...
  11. What to buy?

I've HEARD nightmare stories about the ion, but as an ion owner which operates 8+ hours a day, I haven't any nightmares. Some issues here and there, but quickly repaired by Gerber's excellent service. Researching other flatbed UV printers have come to conclusion that all of them have issues here...
  12. Sewing a banner Hem

I guess you've never had the pleasure of hanging around a really good banner operation. It's a treat. Heavy duty double needles with specially made metal track things where the banner folds and just slides right through. Super fast. Fellers has them set up this way. Their tables are giant air...
  13. What to buy?

Our experience with Gerber Ion is opposite of others. There have been some break-downs in the 8 months this printer has been printing all day long. When the break-downs have occurred Gerber techs have been very prompt at fixing this machine that is under warranty. They've proactively replaced...
  14. Ion users

Hmmm . . . we've found the Gerber to stick perfectly, permanently and stand up to the tape test on coro, factory painted aluminum, vinyl, digital magnetic, rigid vinyl sheet, Maxmetal, alumalite, some other plastics I cannot name, properly painted mdo plywood, and others. Obviously, user...
  15. Printing Magnetic on UV Flatbed

We print digital magnet (every brand has worked great) on our Gerber Ion. Magnets are ready to go right off the machine. No flaking of ink even when bleed printing and cutting the magnet to size and rounding corners. You cannot scratch the ink with your fingernails.
  16. Gerber m3000 cutter and Solara ION...New installations

We're at six months with our Gerber Ion and are very happy with it. We've had a few problems with mechanical items along the way, but those were repaired immediately by Gerber's excellent response. My impression is that Gerber is discovering what needs to be changed along the way now that many...
  17. What to buy?

We visited an Agfa dealer, spent time with actual Agfa tech and produced samples from the Agfa printer on corrugated plastic, styrene, painted aluminum and ultraboard (styrene surface). Agfa used alcohol and Muriatic acid on coro and it did not hold up to the tape test. Other substrates - vinyl...
  18. What to buy?

Very happy Gerber Ion owner here. We studied this for 2 years before deciding to buy. Came down to Ion or Agfa Anapurna. The main deciding issue was the ability of the ink to stick to corrugated plastic without any prep to the surface other than a quick wipe with a mist of isopropyl alcohol...
  19. Printing Ultramag on IonX - either streaks or flakes...

Sorry, been on vacation. We get Magnum digimag from Fellers and Reece Supply.
  20. Printing Ultramag on IonX - either streaks or flakes...

The latest formulation of Ion ink seems to not stick as well to standard magnetic material we buy from Magnum. We now print on the "made for digital printing" magnetic and it works perfectly. Perfect prints, no streaks, print to the edge and we can scrape, cut, round corner and the ink does not...
