  1. VJ1614 CR Motor

I just blew out my 2nd CR motor in 4 months. What underlying problem would make this happen? Everything runs smooth when printing, but this 2nd motor in 4 months has me puzzled. I take really good care of my printer, clean and lube the raceways regularly, belt tension seems good. Any...
  2. Boulevard Beer Font?

Anybody know this font? Thanks in advance... Ben
  3. Harley fender help

Any suggestions for making this go any easier? This is the last crazy piece of the wrap and it didn't go to well the first time, as you can see. Using IJ180c-v3 and 8520 lam.
  4. Dampers on VJ1614

Getting ready to change the dampers on our value jet and wondering if anybody sells the connector valve head, o-rings and brass fittings separate from the actual damper. GEI wants $125 for each valve head assembly that comes with all that, but solventinkjet.com wants $37 for just the damper. I...
  5. Best place to buy a new printhead DX-5

I think it may be about time to replace the head on my Mutoh VJ-1614. I've seen heads on e-bay for about half that say they are compatible, but wanted others' opinions on the matter. GEI, solventinkjet.com, cmykparts.com are all around $2000.00. Any thoughts?
  6. Rubber (?) rivets?

Anybody ever wrapped a box truck with what I can only describe as rubber or plastic rivets? I assume I can use primer 94 on these. Any other suggestions for good adhesive bond on these?
  7. IJ380 versus IJ180...

Anybody use the IJ380 from 3M? Wrapping our first motorcycle. It's pretty curvy. Is it worth the extra dough to use 380 instead of 180? We are also giving it a matte finish, so we would be using 8520, which isn't really recommended for 380. I understand that if I use 8520 with IJ380, it...
  8. Crazy stuff on a mutoh 1614, black haze everywhere!

Anybody ever seen this? Tried many different files, two different media types and several profiles. I've done about 8 strong cleaning cycles. I assume a head soak is in order (or other suggestions?) Thanks, Ben
  9. Got an odd backlit we're replacing...

I've attached a picture and these guys have a frame with a stretched scrim vinyl that they backlit. Baker's furniture has actually been taken all the way off and they are wanting new graphics. The exposed white lettering has yellowed and they want to replace the substrate. It is actually a...
  10. Box Truck Vinyl....

I am wrapping our company box truck. It's a pretty standard box with the big fat rubber rivets through the center horizontally (about 8 per side) mounted on an E350 chassis. I don't think I need IJ180 for this job. The owners want to standardize to all 3m vinyl with vehicles. IJ40 gives me...
  11. Something similar to 100# text

I am running a Mutoh 1614 and have a request to print 4'x6 posters on 100# text. What is out there that would be similar to this that I can run through my Eco solvent printer? Thanks, Ben
  12. Lower Back bearing raceway on VJ1614

Does anybody have a trick to thoroughly clean the bottom back bearing raceway? I can remove the back cover and get the upper back raceway, but that lower back raceway is a pain to get to and I'm wondering if I'm not cleaning and lubricating it very well... I'm getting some noise and everything...
  13. Mutoh service manual

I've seen a few guys on here asking for these and a few guys saying to message them with email addresses and they will send one. I've sent a few messages with no luck. Looking for a 1614 or 1604 valuejet service manual. Anybody know a good source for these? Thanks
  14. Moving...

Our shop is moving to a larger facility. We have a 1614 valuejet and I've moved it once, but it's been awhile. I was looking for tips and suggestions. Printer will be put on a box truck with a lift and moved across town about 10 miles. Thanks for any help in advance. Ben
  15. Need help finding a product...

I am printing and installing onto the exterior surface of windows for a client. I need something cheap that can be put up and then in two months, taken down with ease. They don't want perf (it's too expensive for something like this anyway), but it's gotta be something that a monkey could...
  16. Cutting twice...

Not sure if this is a flexi issue or a graphtec issue, but my graphtec fc8000 is cutting twice over the area that I'm cutting. I'm cutting out simple graphics, white vinyl, created an outline of my file in flexi and sent to cutter. Flexi is set to one pass on the cut job. Is there a setting...
  17. Recently repainted truck...

I've got a company that just repainted a dump truck (done at a reputable body shop). The body shop recommends waiting 30 days to apply graphics. I'm applying some light identification (DOT numbers and business logo, web address) over flat surfaces. I use General Formulations 230 for most...
  18. Mutoh Techs????

Any mutoh techs in the Kansas City area? Need a CR Motor...I think...replaced asap...got a VJ1614.
  19. Stupid Question...

What does the T Fence look like on a mutoh 1614. I am having a E074Err CR2 Current Error mid print and I've cleaned the raceways and am noticing that there is a few sections where the carriage unit is hard to move manually. I know there are a lot of threads out here that discuss this, but my...
  20. Basic and probably a "no-duh" question about lamination...

I am going to be making a backlit sign with Translucent vinyl. The vinyl is a 2 year outdoor vinyl, but I use a 5 year UV lam. What are the chances that this will help the vinyl last a full 5 years?
