  1. Need Help Mimaki JV400 90d Error message

Hi BigfishDM, no I didn't pay for the machine.
  2. Need Help Mimaki JV400 90d Error message

Thanks VanderJ, I'll swap those around and see if I can get the machine to acknowledge head 1.
  3. Need Help Mimaki JV400 90d Error message

Thanks for the reply VanderJ! I'm noticing that this is not a very popular machine, google hasn't been providing me with much in the way of information that's been of any real help trying to rebuild this machine. Quick question for you, if it's the PCB can I swap the boards on the two heads as...
  4. Need Help Mimaki JV400 90d Error message

Hi All, I picked up a dead Mimaki JV400 LX and have been slowly working through it's issues to get it up and running again, but am stumped at this latest problem. I have gotten the following 3 messages at some point during a restart, however not all of them will show up everytime I restart. The...
  5. JV33 headstrike problem!!!!

I always had good luck doing a 15-30 minute head soak with cleaning solution and then a hard cleaning to resolve dropouts after a head strike. Depending on how bad, I've had to repeat the process a second time. It's an agonizing wait but it's always worked in the 5 years I've had a JV33.
  6. Temporary window graphics - "COMING SOON" window wrap during new construction

Check out the Platinum LTR Clear low tack cling from Sonoma Graphics (in Tukwila). Print your graphics mirror image, then use a laminator and back that with a white or translucent vinyl. Apply dry. I do it all the time and it works fantastic.
  7. A online color test, how well can you see colors?

Thanks for posting this! I've got a new employee that's been asking to take a color test but most of them seemed too easy to bother with so I hadn't had her take any of them. I got a 0 and she scored a 4. Looks like I may have gotten a good one, LOL.
  8. Paper labels

MacTac Metro and Starliner are the most common sheet paper label stocks. Avery makes all those cute shapes and sizes but cost quite a bit more then full sheets. I second outsourcing it.
  9. Brochures/line card with sample labels

Up here in Seattle we have a place called SKCAC that employees adults with intellectual and developmental disabilites, local printers have used them for years to do their hand/piece work. If I remember correctly it's paid by the piece. I would image Portland probably has something similar.
  10. Radius corners on magnetics

I was also going to suggest the lassco corner rounder. I use it for magnets, 3mm diabond, 3mm PVC, .040 Alum, laminated pieces and paper. They are a staple equipment item in the printing world and in 25 years of using various different ones I've never had to replace the die. My current one is 6...
  11. Solventparts.com (anyone order from them)

I have been ordering from them for years and have been very happy with the service and quick shipping times.
  12. Need assistance with Mimaki CG-130FX II multiple copies

You need the FineCut plug-in for Illustrator. Hopefully your machine came with a full version because finding one is like trying to find a needle in a haystack. Once you've found it, you can upgrade it off the Mimaki Website to the most current version.
  13. 3rd party inks for ss21

I would love to know the answer to that as well. For those that have switched to a 3rd party, did you find that your colors stayed consistent to the mimaki inks? I run a lot of jobs for very color sensitive customers and am very hesitant to switch for fear that I'll have to re-write all my...
  14. Poster materials for Solvent

I second the Sihl papers, I use the TriSolv 3686 for all my posters and the customers love it. It runs nice (I'm using a JV33) and it has a nice body to it once cut to size. The only thing I don't like is that we have to backroll it off the machine otherwise it can get quite the nasty curl to it.
  15. Can I load a 100mts roll to Mimaki JV300

I'd be more worried about the roll being to wide and sitting on the support bar under the roll. I'm running a JV33 and can't load a 150' roll of 18oz banner without having to peel some off onto another core because it's too big around and sits on the bar. Just a thought.
  16. Service Manual for Mimaki's

Unless it's somewhere besides page 1 of that tread the link tells me it's no good or expired.
  17. JV33 - excessive cyan overspray

Thanks for the suggestions. I did align the capping station and made sure the dampers were full, so we can check those off the list. I'll replace the pump tonight and double check all the fittings while I'm at it.
  18. JV33 - excessive cyan overspray

I'm experiencing excessive overspray on my cyan and wanted to see if anyone has any ideas on why. The machine is 4 years old and this was the original head in the machine - so I put in a brand new OEM head (complete with manifold), along with new dampers and a new capping station. After all...
  19. Cutting in to equal size sheets

You may want to find out what type of printer they are running these through as well, if they are using a laser printer it could melt the vinyl in the fuser unit, ink jet may not be able to absorb and will wipe off.
  20. Banner grommeters- Hiker vs. Fasnap

I've had both the Stimpson and the Hiker. I like my Hiker a lot better for 3 reasons: - Love the tray to put the grommets in - You can adjust how tight the grommet crimps (if the Stimpson is adjustable, I never figured out how). We grommet foam core which would get a pretty heavy dimple in it...
