  1. Oracal 5600 and 210 Lam

Thanks guys... I'm trying to upsell the idea of aluminum blanks instead of coro too. Perhaps not putting the laminate on will lower the cost enough for them to justify paying $4 more per sign for 0.04 aluminum rater than 4 mil coro.
  2. What laminator and why?

I had a rep show me a good way to web it and use less material.. If you send the laminate w/ liner through the roller and get good tension, you can slide something (I use the back of a pair of scissors) across the lining so that you cut the lining only and not the laminate. Then you run...
  3. Oracal 5600 and 210 Lam

3 Years would be more than adeaquate... Winters here are harsh on real estate signs (Snowplows, snow and ice). My only reason for laminating would be decrease the brittleness of the reflective in cold temperatures (below freezing much of the time from November to March)
  4. Oracal 5600 and 210 Lam

Has anyone used 210 lam with 5600 reflective?... and if so was it successful. I'm looking to make reflective real estate panels (24x18). Oracal recommends 290 lam, but the cost is more than double. (Is there a way to search multiple keywords with the search on this site... or search for...
  5. What laminator and why?

After owning a RS and currently owning a Seal - I would much rather have the Seal. Both models were 54" and I constantly had problems keeping consistant even tension across the rollers with the RS - ruining a lot of prints with creases. So far (2 months) this has not been an issue with the...
  6. Speed Press

If you're dealing with cut vinyl and layering, I think a Speed Press is a must. If you're printing rather than layering, I don't know how often you'll use it.
  7. XC-540 No Power

Ultimately they determined that the boards were fine, so I'm not looking for a new solution. On the plus side... they did not charge me check the boards (I only had to pay shipping fees). They've been good to work with, and I'd refer future business to them.
  8. XC-540 No Power

Macmedia, I'm a good 4 hours or so from you. I replaced the 36v power supply today and it didn't make a difference. I'm going to mail you out the boards to look at.
  9. XC-540 No Power

Main Power Switch On: Check (No results) Secondary Power Swith: No indication (No results) Outlet Has Power: Check - plugged in different equipment. Power Cord is Good: Check - used two, one of which I know works.
  10. XC-540 No Power

I just purchased a used machine. After moving to our location, it will not turn on. I've tried different power cables, but no luck. My next guess would be a power supply. Any other suggestions before I try to find a replacement?

Jason, I'm in the process of purchasing new "used" equipment after having my shop recently burn to the ground. I've found an XJ640 that I'm interested in, but wondered if you had any words of advice on the machine. Previously I had an XC-540, but I've been unable to find a used one at a...
  12. Today is not my day.

Insurance was in place... probably under insured for the contents but over for the building so in the end it will be a wash. It is amazing how the word "insurance" just like the word "wedding" moves the decimal point one spot to the right on every item you need to purchase. Everyone seems to...
  13. Today is not my day.

If it makes you feel any better... I had a worse day last month. I got a call at 5:00AM from the 911 dispatcher telling me that my office/shop was on fire... total loss.

  16. Font ID

anyone know this one... it's very similar to Britannic, but it's not quite the same.
  17. Window perforation laws & regulations

Does anyone know laws specific to New York State... or where I might find them? I believe NY allows Window Tint up to 70% for the rear window, but I'm not sure if that translates to 70/30 perf. I've only used 50/50 with optically clear laminate in the past, and knock on wood, I haven't had...

  19. Roland Color Swatches and Versaworks...

Thank you so much.... I found this thread after spending hours trying to figure out why when I printed spot colors from Illy they came out drastically different that the Roland Color Chart printed directly from VersaWorks. Who'd of thunk it... one little check box could hold so much power.
  20. Service manual for XC 540 ?
