  1. Large Format Prints on Large Windows

Thank you both for your input. This will be a print, so it will have to be applied to the outside of the storefront windows. The 1/8" perimeter cut will be done. My understanding is that it will ensure adhesion as the vinyl contracts. If I did not cut the vinyl 1/8" from the glass, there may...
  2. Ram Sign for a friend

Looks great! Glad to see your project went well!! Thanks for the tip on the epoxy application. Best, Keith Artisan Signs
  3. Large Format Prints on Large Windows

I have been requested to cover three large windows, 10ft by 5ft, with vinyl prints. They do not want the windows to be "see thru" so I plan on using 3M Vehicle Wrap along with a laminate. The print itself will have large pictures with black, graphical fames that separate the pics. The building...
  4. Smalts help please

Sorry, I did not mention that Smith's Cream is now manufactured by 1-Shot, so it is definately compatible with their lettering enamels.
  5. Smalts help please

Could be...however, I don't see any advantage to painting smalts. Some of the reflective qualities would be lost when painted. If you have to match the paint color exactly, I would suggest using HDU and sandblasting. This will leave a pebble effect for the background, similar to smalt. Then...
  6. Smalts help please

Wow. Just discovered this thread with so much disinformation.... We have both Smith's Cream & Smalts available to the sign industry on our website, so you could say we have the experience. Our supplier used to be Rick Glawson of Esoteric Signs as well. However, after his passing, his shop...
  7. How to politely ask for deposit before any work is started?

Forgot to mention, we also include a .cdr file. It is what we design with... As far as design, yes, you must also communicate your understanding of layout, how the logo will be used with several medias and the importance of a versitile logo for vertical & horizontal formats.
  8. Large Quantity Lettering

Then pay someone a small sub-contracting fee to weed it for you. Depending on your state, you should be allowed $xxx.xx of sub-contracted work that would not require a 1099.
  9. Install question

6' wide will bow. I'd install a top & bottom support if I were going to use MDO. If you cannot give it extra horizontal support, I would say you have the wrong substrate.
  10. What vinyl to use for long-term outdoor sign (printed)

I'd use the 3M as well with laminate. If you have a large sign & a Big Squeegee, you'll thank yourself! Just recently applied 3 panels of vinyl to a 5'x10' aluminum sign in 45 minutes using the forementioned.
  11. How to politely ask for deposit before any work is started?

We ask for logo payment upfront. Like you said, the customer will take your design and run if you let them. It is very important to tell the customer what they will be recieving... - .jpg files for easy print reproduction (high res) - .pdf file for universal file importing - .ai...
  12. Large Quantity Lettering

In order to cut down on weeding labor & weeding mishaps, we started incorporating a "weed line" in our outputs. That is, we create a horizontal line, to be cut, that intersects with the middle of the text. Then delete any overlapping line segments in the text using an trim tool in our...

We use Signs365.com. You just need to have a format that will fit on a 4'x8'.
  14. small vinyl cut decals

    Yep, the Gerber Edge!
  15. Rolle Pro

I think they want you to buy a new one.
  16. Recommended bit for alumacor?

I try to use other substrates like PVC. Never had any luck with corrugated plastic on the router. All hand cut here for custom coro jobs. But most of those jobs go to Fast Signs or Sign-A-Rama.
  17. Squeegee Questions

Here's a site for you...www.lidcoproducts.com Thay have squeegees of all kinds. We prefer the felt and the Teflon squeegees for application without transfer tape. The Teflon glides over the vinyl rather well and works for transfer tape application as well. Invest in a Big Squeege. These...
  18. Window Perf

Just got a call back today from a Landscaper that needs the windows redone. The perf with laminate lasted two years. These vehicles are washed almost every day...this guy has a wash package at the local gas station. I'd say thats 600+ brushless car washes it has endured. $200 bucks a pop...
  19. Want to sandblast signs

Thanks. Did you do all of your showcase signs on your website using a router?
  20. Want to sandblast signs

Sadly, we have Enroute Software and router bits ready to go. We just need some time to learn it!
