Currently running a VP-540i but considering a new machine given the Roland pricing in conjunction with the ISA show. I'm used to running 4 colors with my current machine, so any insight into the benefits of using 8 colors with the VG540? TIA for any insight.
Just started having this problem. After running about 10" of a print the machine goes into a cleaning cycle. I only use Roland Eco-Sol Max inks and manually clean the machine weekly or as needed. Printer status in VersaWorks shows no issues in printer status. Thank in advance if anyone has a...
The only info I can offer is that I have (a few times) sent an image from Flexi to PG, and then sent the saved PG image to the laser with no issues. Now I usually either send the file directly from Flexi to the laser (vector cutting and simple raster engraving). If it's a photo, I use...
Sadly, that kind of attitude seems to be a prerequisite for getting hired into that line of work. Around here, if you have commercial tags and the vehicle is above a certain GVW you need lettering. Magnetics and window lettering don't count -- they want vinyl on metal.
I got tired of cleaning our stainless kitchen appliances. Between the doggie nose art and our two-year-old granddaughter's handprints it was never ending. And I know a guy!
Besides, it's the lowest maintenance aquarium we've ever owned.
What have you done around your house with your sign shop...
Big shout out to Michael and SignCenter for a quick turn dye sub banner they did for me. Customer placed the order as I was on my way out of the country for a week. I was able to dropbox the file to SignCenter on the road and they delivered a great finished product.
Agreed! These were originally going to be placed on a large granite slab, one facing north and the other south, but that granite delivery has been delayed. On the building, even tight, was plan "B."
New seafood market in Boothbay, Maine. Customer had the logo already developed and wanted two 6' circular signs for the side of the building. I talked them into a scallop-shaped outline and digitally printed the shell ridges/logo and applied to 6mm dibond routed to the proper shape.

Sounds like you've got the basics down perfectly well. You've outlined my technique that I've been doing for more than 15 years on boats. In water or on the hard? Just make sure you thoroughly wipe down the glass because most boats have at least one coat of wax by this time of the season...
Great point. Probably with change the backer board to something with hidden hardware that still gives me room to accommodate the wiring between that board and the wall.
First time using LED standoffs; these from Gyford. Very easy to use. The sign panel is laser etched on 1/4" acrylic then edge lit with side-firing LEDs that sit between the standoff barrel and cap on a disk. Backing board is 1/4" MDF sprayed matte black.
This sign is heading to the new...
Yes to testing. Some paints are just prone to being chalky, and tape will not adhere well. Tape + silicon adhesive, however, is a great choice as mentioned.
I would definitely NOT want to be starting a business and trying to compete in the Etsy/Pinterest space. Way to crowded and pricing is stupid low. Ever do an Etsy search on Truck Lettering? And in the boat lettering world, there are DIY customers who shop the Boat US design and order online...
