try this
I had a lot of 1/16" bits break... just look at them at they break. Then Hartlauer suggested that the problem was the 1/4" shank and so I switched to the 1/8" shank with a 1/8" collet and presto... no more broken bits. They just get dull now. But you still have to run and plunge...
Same problem
I had the same problem with the 540V going into 'now processing' in the middle of the job. The job would disappear from VersaWorks and everything would have to be restarted. Never did get an error message. Tried firmware upgrade, software upgrade, always ripping before printing...
upgrading
We've just upgraded to a VS640 and are now going to upgrade the computers. Looks like some have no luck with 7/64 and some do. CS5 runs on 64 so I'd like to go that way but I don't need issues either.
Roland Japan basically says, 'might work'.
I agree with Dropout. Onsrud 'O' single flute up spiral. I don't use a Gerber machine but I run 24000 rpm and moderately fast through the material. No lubrication as the plastic core lubricates enough. The bit has to be sharp though or you'll always get a lousy edge.
