  1. Backpainting acrylic question

    Sweet. Thank you for replying.
  2. Backpainting acrylic question

When backpainting non-glare acrylic, do you lightly scuff/sand the 2nd surface first? My project is an interior sign. Will regular latex acrylic paint work?
  3. Adhesive for acrylic

It may be the clear sheet adhesive. There isn't really any gap/distance between the two layers of acrylic. It must have been adhered, and then routed/engraved afterwards. The edges are pretty flush and clean.
  4. Adhesive for acrylic

I have a customer that would like me to match an existing ADA sign. It's two layers of acrylic. The top layer is 5/64" non-glare that is back-painted. And the bottom layer is regular 1/8" clear acrylic. Can you recommend an adhesive to bond the two together? One that won't cause any issues with...
  5. Roland BN-20 Waste Tank Drain Cartridge - empty it myself?

Finally got around to opening up the waste cartridge. There really isn't anything to pour out. All of the waste ink is absorbed into the pads that welder.man mentioned. I don't have a press to squeeze all the ink out. I tried putting each layer of pad into a ziplock bag, and step on it, but that...
  6. Any recommendations for a laminator? (Roland BN-20)

I was wondering if I could get some help choosing a laminator ideal for a Roland BN-20. I've just been backing my 2nd surface prints with vinyl, but I'm interested in getting some feedback on possible laminators that I could use. Thanks for any advice.
  7. Roland BN-20 Waste Tank Drain Cartridge - empty it myself?

    Sounds easy enough. Thanks all.
  8. Roland BN-20 Waste Tank Drain Cartridge - empty it myself?

Okay, thanks. It's about 90% full right now. I was wondering if I needed to buy one before it hits 100%.
  9. Roland BN-20 Waste Tank Drain Cartridge - empty it myself?

The Roland BN-20 Waste Tank Drain Cartridge costs about $50 for a new one. Are there any tutorials on emptying it myself, instead of buying a new one? Thanks! John
  10. Plywood Sign Advice

Sounds good. Tyvm for the advice.
  11. Plywood Sign Advice

    They will be single-sided.
  12. Plywood Sign Advice

The signs I am quoting aren't permanent, but may be on-site for a year or more, depending on when the building is leased. Without framing, does the sign panel bend or warp?
  13. Plywood Sign Advice

Would anyone mind describing your way of framing a 4x8 MDO panel, to be installed on (2) 4"x4" posts positioned behind the panel? Do you use 2"x4"s or 2"x2"s for the framing? Do you use plywood triangles on the corners? Do smaller signs, such as 3x4s and 4x4s, need to be framed? Thanks
  14. Photos of work you designed while working for another company

Hi All, Thank you for the input. Yah, I was originally planning to use the photos for my own business site, with each photo having the note, "designed by My Name, fabricated by Company Name." But I think it may be more trouble than it's worth.
  15. Photos of work you designed while working for another company

Is it okay to take photos of work that you designed and put it in your own portfolio, or even your own website, if it was designed while working for another sign company? I would imagine that your previous employer may have the rights to the design, but once the customers purchase and install...
  16. Beware of grommets!!!!

I bet they're never mis-calibrated to give you more than 500.
  17. Best Printer for the $

For outsourcing digital prints, how much do shops usually markup? It's been hit or miss when I markup 100%, but I'm hesitant to lower the markup in case something goes wrong. I don't want to have to re-buy the same print and lose money.
  18. Ice Cream Logo

It looks really good. Could I see a version without the light green outline around "Meyer's" and change the yellow outline to that light green? When I think of ice cream, I think of cool/cold. The red/pink color looks a little on the warm side. Overall, great layout. I like the 2nd version the...
  19. Sandwich Board / A-Frame

I checked out the angle iron frame from Grimco. I would have used it, but it ships via motor freight only, which is $120 from Denver to Northern California. I guess I'll just give her the price for framed mdo panels. If she doesn't like it, she can buy the smaller signicade option.
  20. Sandwich Board / A-Frame

    Okay, thx all.
