  1. HP 5500ps uv - how to replace carriage nozzles (print head to carriage seal)

I've seen the manual and am pretty sure they don't have this part as replaceable. I found a reman ink supply tube set for $300...might be a better option if I can't find the replacement procedures.
  2. HP 5500ps uv - how to replace carriage nozzles (print head to carriage seal)

My cyan print head started getting air in the lines and after checking it the "nozzle" that the print head connects to for ink was worn out and not sealing. I was able to find new nozzles (I use this term because that's what the seller was calling them) in China. I received them and pulled the...
  3. HP 5500ps UV generic ink experience?

Thanks for the feedback. I use Lexjet as well and like it. I ran Encad/Kodak for years and was used to their inks and consumption rates. The 5500 seems like it uses more ink per sq ft than the encad.
  4. HP 5500ps UV generic ink experience?

Just curious if anyone tried anything like this: http://www.ebay.com/itm/G-G-Yellow-Ink-Cartridge-Remanufactured-For-HP-C4943A-No-83-Designjet-5000-5500-/190945976543?pt=US_Ink_Cartridges&hash=item2c754460df I've tried Lexjet generic inks in the past and they've worked well but these ebay inks...
  5. Looking for a reliable seller of Hp Q8923A 60" satin photo paper in the North East.

I'm looking for a retailer that is in the eastern Pa, NJ or NY area (anywhere that's one day UPS to Lancaster) that stocks this material. I did buy a roll today from an online google search and will see how it goes. They're in the northern Md area and the roll was only $125 shipped. Idk, I'm...
  6. Hp 5500ps

I use a 5500 uv and it is a workhorse. I started with an Encad III 36" 15 years ago and had just about every Encad that was made. I'd still have the 850 had they not of discontinued the light and medium dilution inks. i bought the 5500 a few years ago and really like it. I do miss the...
  7. HP 5500UV ink count way off

They said they will...they're a good company to work with. I have an oem black here that has about a third left. Funny how it's never less than what it shows. Lol. I do a lot of 300 dpi printing with this machine. I have a few customers that buy quite a few large posters regularly from me...
  8. HP 5500UV ink count way off

I'm showing an empty magenta ink cart so I ordered a new one. I went to replace it and the one that's showing empty is half full. These are Lexjet carts. Is this common with these or an anomaly? Ive always had a little left over but never a half cart. Thank you
  9. Looking for a new supplier for indoor poster material - HP 5500 PS UV

I've always used Kodak production poly materials, both regular and adhesive backed for all my indoor posters which I mostly print. It was a decent material with a great price which made it economical to do posters. Within the last couple years, it's been hard to find. I'm not married to this...
  10. Dark bands in print after new printhead (picture)

I wanted to follow up with this thread in case someone else runs into this problem. The air in the lines was causing the print head malfunction and was separate from the printing issues. I drew the air out of the lines and dropped in a new head and all is well. The print quality issue was from...
  11. HP designjet 5500ps UV print pass per mode

I use Onyx poster shop to print and set the print passes in that but am trying to figure out how many passes per each mode on the front panel. I'm trying to calibrate for a fast drying material and want to use the same passes. Through Onyx I can set up to 12 passes but they're not labeled as the...
  12. Ink tubing kit for HP 5500ps UV

I spoke with a serv tech from the place I bough the printer from. He said it was typical air in the lines and suggested getting service heads and purging the air and replace the printhead. I noticed the black ink had an experation date of 2008. Not sure about that as they were suppose to be new...
  13. Ink tubing kit for HP 5500ps UV

Looks like my black ink issue's returned. I found air in the tube that I could see up by the printheads last night. The new black printhead's toast as well. I found two part numbers for this kit. One was found with a google search and the other from the service manual for the printer. Just...
  14. HP 5500ps UV leftover ink

Last month I was prompted with a low ink message so I ordered a new 680ml cartridge. The printer stopped printing when it showed 0% and I changed it out. I've had the old "empty" cart sitting here and today when I was going to toss it out it felt kind of heavy to me so I cut it open - the...
  15. Dark bands in print after new printhead (picture)

Thanks for the info. It seems to be printing well with the new head.
  16. Dark bands in print after new printhead (picture)

It's printing fine without any problems on 8 pass. The ink lines aren't a year old. When I get this job out the door I'll play around with it a little. Any idea on the Feed comp that was mentioned above. I looked through the printer menu and the service manual and don't see it.
  17. Dark bands in print after new printhead (picture)

I just put a new head in and it seems to be still doing it. ugh. When I put the new head in it went through the alignment process. Do you do anything beyond that? Also, I can't find the feed compensation as was mentioned. Where is that setting located?
  18. Dark bands in print after new printhead (picture)

Thnx for the input. I did a nozzle test and the new black print head was a train wreck. Over half weren't firing. I also did the solid color line test and the black ink dropped out a quarter do the way through. I should have a replacement here tomorrow. Thanks again!
  19. Dark bands in print after new printhead (picture)

The media was new, boxed and had the pastic shipping caps that keep the weight of the roll from sitting on the material. This problem occurs on other media's. This is an eps file that's from the ad agency I've been print for since '98. Their files are always very good. Since these posters...
  20. Dark bands in print after new printhead (picture)

They're encapsulated in rubber. I can't see but a small part that's close to the carriage.
