Are you aware if there is any printer for rigid thick material (+- 1/4") for 24" width? THanks
  2. Direct substrate printer

I recently found a link to printers called "direct substrate printer". These type of printers would be ideal for my application. My current method is to subcontract my 4"x4" print and cut sticker jobs and transfer them myself to the substrate we are using. I do not want a monster flat printer...
  3. Font ID needed

I manually rendered this font shown to me by a customer. Can you tell me what is the name of it? THanks.
  4. Help with 1st digital printing sub job

I've been cutting vynil for years, but I am considering starting to subcontract digital printing jobs. The shop doing the job for me required my files to be in CMYK format. I use Signlab for drawing and cutting and I only use either RGB or Oracal's vynil pallete in it. Since I do not know...
  5. Roland Pnc960 Camm-1

I think I remember it has something to do with the manual pin set up on the right hand of the cutter. There has been a previous discussion on that in the forum. Do a search. Are you using it with a serial or parallel port? Mine never worked with windows XP. I run it under Win98. You can download...
  6. Save Your Old Computers

I run a small cnc cutter with a 486. The only thing is you have to transfer the gcode in a 3 1/2" disk. But it runs great.
  7. Where can I buy ding board? not foamboard.

Those prices are way high! This guy told me it should not be more than $15 per sheet for a 4x8x1/4" board
  8. Where can I buy ding board? not foamboard.

I came accross a material very similar to foamboard. Except it does not have the paper sheets on the outside. Instead, it has a very thin plastic film covering both sides. The guy who gave me sample called it "ding board". Any idea who might sell this type of boards? Thanks all.

  10. Is it possible to cut this material with a regular cutter?

I don't know. This is a product that is already in the market. I only noticed the cut and thought it might be possible. How thick is sandblast mask? Does it look like this? I imagine this kind of material is a bit rubbery.
  11. Is it possible to cut this material with a regular cutter?

I've attached a picture of a material that looks like very thin "foamy" (I think that's the name of it). Do you think something like this could be cut with a regular cutter? Just wondering if someone has done tests with thicker materials other than vinyl. Just thought it might be interesting...
  12. Looking for...a better Substrate cutter

I am subscribed to a magazine called Shopnotes. This is magazine dedicated to DIY woodworking jigs. About 2 or 3 issues ago, they featured a DIY panel saw with plans included. It did not look to hard to build. However, I've built a model from them featured in issue 5 of the magazine which I...
  13. friction fed vinyl trouble

I am using a Roland PNC cutter and the media is Oracal series 641. That last tip seems reasonable to me. I would also try that. Thanks
  14. friction fed vinyl trouble

I've noticed the vinyl would be aligned at the beginning of the cut, but after 24" or so of cutting, one side would start to get lagged. I tried cleaning the rubber rollers, but they seem to have a coat of something on top of them. Any suggestions? Thanks
  15. Serial port on laptop HELP!!!!!

I got this from another forum and have not tried it myself...... "the USB to Serial adaptor from www.keyspan.com is the best there is. High Speed USB Serial Adapter USA-19HS It is used on PC and Mac and never misses a single move, plus it works with DrPicza forever. I have tried other devices...
  16. CNC for a small shop!!??

My advice: Do not try to build one. I fell into this trap and even though it may seem cheaper, the amount of time invested understanding how it works plus endless frustrations it is not worth. There are too many factors involved for a CNC to work properly. And you will find special difficulty in...
  17. first time vinyl wet application problem

  18. first time vinyl wet application problem

I am new to vinyls and signs. I've been following the steps from a vinyl video tutorial I purchased on Ebay. I tried doing a wet application using the home made formula featured here in the signs101 forum. When I tried to remove the application tape off the vinyl, the vinyl would not stick to...
