+1 for adding a simple label. Xft w x Xft h Two extra key strokes eliminates guessing (or remembering a rule)
  2. Store front windows: To GF or not to GF, this is the question...

Hello All, So I have a store front window job to do with Perforated Film (Still sorting out which media to use here). But I'm also questioning myself on which lam to use. Normally, for everything we print on perforated media, we use 290GF. Easy. Done. But this particular install is on the...
  3. Best Computer for designing??

Happy Holidays! You have a few ways to go. 1) Signburst.com (as others have mentioned). Having support on deck is golden. Especially if support is handled by the same guy that put together the machine. He is a member here. Great, patient, guy. I'm still running a version of his...
  4. Dual monitor question

^ This. Or maybe I'm missing something from OP. What I do in Flexi and illustrator (with a couple extra steps), I assume Corel supports this work flow too. Maybe. Maybe not. Open destination document, locate source doc in file explorer (not file open dialog). Drag source into destination doc.
  5. Steps to fix slow, unresponsive computer

I would put money on drive space being the main issue. Drive space is a thing. I read somewhere a long time ago in a PC hardware and maintenance class in JC that the OS needs empty space to do its thing efficiently. And it seems to be even more of a thing with SSD technology. Don't take my word...

  7. Sending LARGE files (weTransfer)

I use we transfer for almost daily. Great product/service. I do use it slightly differently though. I always input my own email address and have the links come into my inbox and then I copy and paste the short link it generates into the email I send to clients or vendors. It gives me more...

  10. Remote Access

Just revisiting this to post my findings. Its been a week and 2 days since I've been working from home. And I gotta say, now that the newness anxiety has worn off, I actually like this scenario. I'm at the home office churning through proofs, placing orders with my fab partners, and quickly...
  11. Remote Access

Glad to see a nod for Google Remote Desktop. It seems too good to be true. Works well so far. I'm going to put it to the true test tomorrow. Working from home: Day 1
  12. Remote Access

Hi All, Those of you that are (or contemplating) having employees work from home, what software are you using? I get it that certain obvious operations can't be done remotely. And I understand the security etc. Those things are not the question. Just looking to see what others are using. I used...
  13. To those of you with websites, anyone using WordPress?

+1 for Wordpress. A self-host Wordpress site is a great option. Based on my experience with it, a vanilla wp install may not offer all the security and functionality an online business might need (especially an established brand). You will need to stay on top of updates and compatibility for all...
  14. Suggestions Looking for a certain vector

If you have Illustrator you should be able to create your card shape. Then, use the extrude / bevel or rotate options to get the position you want. Then map your art to to said shape. Take a look here for more details: Map artwork to a 3D object I think Corel may have a similar function too.

  17. Need Help Roland VersaWorks Insufficient Memory Error

RVW creates massive temp files for the rip data. Your hard drive is probably getting full. Consider taking a look at your drive space on the machine. If its in the red, you probably need to clean out some temp files before RVW will let you rip anything else. If your drive is in fact pretty full...
  18. Need Help Truevis Vg640 Banding - argh.......

I've have had the same issue. What works for me is slowing the head speed down in rip. I think the generic default is 1185. I have gone as low as 800 with great results, albeit slower. Also turning down the print heater a bit helped me a lot. Same machine for the record.
  19. The Middle Man...

Hi All, So we all have this guy/gal swing through our shops occasionally. You know them. Former sign industry employees, in between gigs. Graphic designers that know just enough to be dangerous (read: annoying). Sales guys from unrelated/dissimilar industries that believe that they can sell...
