  1. Mimaki CJV30 service manual or videos?

The problem is solved for now, but I'm not sure if I solved it. I received 8 new dampers and haven't installed any of them. I receievd 1 new cap top, and haven't installed it. I received 8 new cleaning cartridges, they're also still in the box. I did use about 24% of my ink in all...
  2. Mimaki CJV30 service manual or videos?

Yeah, it wouldn't surprise me if a good printhead soak would enhance longevity. For us, what is the most important thing to do is just print every day. Since we don't really sell prints for our Mimaki, it's rare that it gets daily usage. Hopefully when we get our 54", we can start selling...
  3. Mimaki CJV30 service manual or videos?

Surprisingly, I am the one currently hosting the JV33 bible on my google account and completely forgot. So I pulled open the JV33 service manual and it does indeed cover the CJV30. A few things I tried last week: 1. I ordered 3 new dampers and a new capping station top. 2. I pulled off...
  4. Please remove the cactus before I start.

Duct tape is a miracle for cactus needles. I had a girlfriend (note: "had") that loved cactus plants in her bedroom. I would constantly get needles in my arms, legs, hands, even my rear end one night. Duct tape. Press it against the skin and peel away and they come right out.
  5. Grimco "Thanks for your hard work, your fired"

Sorry to say it, but anyone who signs a non-compete without making the employer offer a guaranteed income and a cancellation of that non-compete upon termination, is a moron. Also, never sign a contract under duress. I don't care how much you need a job, it's not worth the risk.
  6. Mimaki CJV30 service manual or videos?

For what it's worth, all of the dampers seem to have ink in them except for the left magenta damper, as shown in the attached photo.
  7. Mimaki CJV30 service manual or videos?

Having magenta fall out (again) and have done the following: 1. New ink cartridge (previous one was on 2%), pulled the low cartridge, felt like there was plenty of ink. 2. 99 minute nozzle clean/soak 3. Overnight nozzle clean/soak 4. Normal and Hard cleaning 5. Checked the wiper blade...
  8. Screw you 3M.

Just wanted to put in my 2 cents... We don't do wraps, but we do vehicle graphics. Never had an issue with 3M, we usually just bought whatever is the best value since almost all of our graphics are short term installs (6-12 months, maximum). From reading this thread and doing some due...
  9. Hello Idiot (Me): Discharge & Wash CJV30

SightLine: That did it. You, sir or ma'am, are a lifesaver. The next time I am in SC, I owe you a bottle of Scotch, if you're a drinker.
  10. Hello Idiot (Me): Discharge & Wash CJV30

Ignore me -- I didn't realize I could hit "function" after boot up and switch out of the ink selection.
  11. Hello Idiot (Me): Discharge & Wash CJV30

Edited this out as it was wrong: SightLine: Seems like it may be different on the CJV30 -- I did that (powered up while holding Function and Remote down) and after cycling up, it went straight to "Choose an ink type".
  12. Hello Idiot (Me): Discharge & Wash CJV30

Thanks for the quick response. I tried that (twice now). When it boots up from cold, it asks me to pick the ink type (SS21) and the color mode (CCMMYYKK). I select both properly, and then it asks me to remove all 8 ink cartrdges, which I do. Then it does 4:30 of "discharge" with the...
  13. Hello Idiot (Me): Discharge & Wash CJV30

So we had some nozzles out on the magenta on our CJV30, so I told our new tech to just do a nozzle wash and see what happens. He asked me from the other room "Discharge and Wash?" to which I said yes. That was a bad idea -- I was busy doing something else (famous last words) and when he...
  14. Digital Canvas Printing Help Creating Offset 4 tile print

We do this using Corel or Adobe products all the time (a few times per week). It's really easy. CorelDraw is probably the easiest way to do it. Here are the steps: 1. Start a new project that is the final size of all of the canvas prints together (including the "empty" space in between...
  15. shopping for new printer

We love our Mimaki CJV and are already contemplating purchasing a second one to sit next to it. Be prepared to learn a completely new foreign language if you do go that route (Mimakinese). At least once a week I hear my ops manager slap his forehead while reading the CJV manual because of...
  16. are warranties worth it in your opinion?

18 years I've been in the print business, I've never bought an extended warranty. Ever. Never paid-per-click, never paid-per-foot, never paid-per-month. I've saved 6 figures avoiding it, and put the cash of the cost of warranties into a nest egg to repair it myself or replace it. The only...
  17. cjv3-130.anyone have this mimaki?solvent vs eco? ccmmyykk vs cmyklclm?

We use Onyx for most of our wide format printing, but for our Mimaki CJV we use Rasterlink and really have no problem with it. Our desktop designers just design in Illustrator or Corel and use the FineCut plugins to export to a shared hot folder on the RIP computer in the solvent room. It's...
  18. Is the VersaStudio BN-20 right for me?

We picked up a Mimaki CJV30-60 for a steal, 24". We buy our media from Grimco who slits the wider rolls down for free (54" roll become 24" + 24" + 6" rolls, we use the 6" roll for long decal runs). Absolutely LOVE the printer. I do like the fact that the BN-20 is so tiny. Our Mimaki takes...
  19. Mimaki CJV30-100 or Roland Versacamm SPI540?

Love my CJV -- colors out of Corel and Adobe products are really accurate, cutti is a breeze and maintenance is easy. We only do small items, but it's fast enough and profitable from day one. I really like FineCut for Corel -- it makes designing to printing to cutting a very simple process...
  20. Cheap decals

We have some local customers who order regularly, weekly even, but when they ask for discounts, I offer to let them use my weeding table and they can handle the labor portion. I also let them know that any errors on their part is their own problem. Some of them actually like doing it, and I...
