Just to add closure to this, for anyone searching the forums in the future...
The only way I could get the printer to read the full width was by replacing the cutter carriage ribbon.
The repair took about an hour to complete.
So in a nutshell there is no way to override the printer...
Hello I have searched the forums and also called my printer supplier and it looks like my cut carriage cable has a kink in it and needs to be replaced. It will only read 13.5" across.
I have a couple 27" wide jobs to run and was wondering if anyone here has any idea how to manual set the media...
That is easy as I already have 3951/290, just though with it being so thin it may be difficult for customers to install. Will try a test with 3751RA/290 to see if it is easy for an novice to install with simple instructions.
Thanks

I have been doing outdoor signs and vehicle wraps, but wonder what people are using in the Oracal line of inkjet printable vinyl for Laptop and Phone skins?
I have done research on the web and signs 101, but it seems most are using 3M products that seem to be be on the thick side - 4 mil plus...
As a design house we do lots of wrap designs (Branding) for different vehicles, race helmets, show cars etc. Just starting to print in-house but still send out lots of designs every week for other companies, so i would say about 50% of my business is wrap related.
3850 Double Strike?
Sorry to dig up an old thread but I have my first printing job coming up on ORACAL 3850. Do you need to double strike it (Over Print)? Or will the default profile I downloaded from ORACAL have this turned on in VersaWorks?
Sorry for the newbie question, but I don't want to...
Love it!
I am a vector designer all the way, I am constantly persuading clients to go with vector graphics and the punch they offer. Once you show them the impact and power vector graphics can have at communicating the brand and message it is a pretty easy sell!

I have done 3 different 8ft x 12ft billboards with a 15" cutter and it worked fine. Need to plan out each pass and optimize your vinyl and cuts. Make sure you number every piece to prevent confusion during installation.
I now use a much larger cutter, but I don't panic when I need to tile an...

This is turning into a lesson of Copyright vs. Trade Marks or Service Marks. I have been involved in corporate branding for many years and I highly recommend anyone working with designs has a good understanding of the differences in their country, region, state or province and etc.

Great post and glad to see it as a sticky!
I am one of those that got a University Degree in design and branding and worked in the advertising for many years before moving into the sign business - you get thick-skinned showing your ideas and the more negative/creative feedback you get, the...
Hello,
Just a quick introduction... I am a designer by trade and in the past 4 years moved into the sign/clothing side of things by slowly bringing the production in house. As my market seems to be continually growing in the small custom job arena, I could no longer rely on outsourcing my...
I don't have a template for iPad2, but I was wondering what vinyl you use for the wraps? I just had a client ask if I can do custom ipad and laptop wraps .
