  1. Per diem for out of state work? Semi trailer wraps

I was asked by my employer if I would travel out of state to do some semi trailer wraps. The location is roughly 6 hours away, and we would be staying in a hotel for approx. 10 days. We would print the wraps in house, and take everything down with us. The business owner would be paying for the...

  4. Sprinter wrap q

I do these with no primer, like every job. Make sure you clean properly. Especially the channels!!! Every wrap i do starts with a normal car wash. Then remove any parts that your able to, the more that comes off.. The less you have to stretch or cut around. Then clean with rapid prep, or another...
  5. Casino bus, removal and wrap! (my personal nightmare)

Bus was brand new, 0 miles, 5 years ago too when the wrap was applied. Smh.
  6. Casino bus, removal and wrap! (my personal nightmare)

Tried heat. Made the vinyl removal a little easier, but any primer areas still left all the adhesive. The worst part about this wrap the previous shop wrapped over and primed most of the trim and rubber seals. Let's just say it's only day 2 and my fingers already hurt lol

  9. Credit card processing fees

So we just got a new credit card terminal for the shop, and although I'm not the owner so it's not up to me but I don't really agree with the way we handle payment, and want to know how other sign shops handle this New terminal charges a fee of 3.75%.. So it's kind of an incentive for...

  12. Value of a vinyl installer? Wrapper?

Sorry to hear that! It's a shame how few people take pride in their work. Wrapping is art and I guess not all people love doing it. I'm bummed when we go a few weeks without one. Not sure if relocation that far is an option at this time but I will definitely keep it in mind! Thanks!
  13. Value of a vinyl installer? Wrapper?

I'm not usually one to brag, but I am pretty darn proud of my work!
  14. Value of a vinyl installer? Wrapper?

This is pretty shocking to be honest lol. I wouldn't say I am perfect at either body work or vinyl, but I haven't done a whole lot of body work in the last 4 years so I'm sure I'm slow as hell now. Vinyl I have only been doing for 4 years, so I am happy with my speed with the amount of...

Thanks for the advice. I understand Benefits are difficult, expensive, but at least include something in the hourly rate to compensate. I've been paying my own health insurance now that it's required and jeeeeeeez!!!
  16. Value of a vinyl installer? Wrapper?

Also have knowledge in wiring, channel letters, raceways, can operate a bucket truck and have done sign jobs 120 ft in the air so heights don't bother me. Have done a lot of interior signage as well.. Stand offs, Gemini letters, phototex etc.. Kinda learned it all growing with this company. I...
  17. Value of a vinyl installer? Wrapper?

They can afford me easily. And 5 people weren't trained in my department. I'm the only one with wrap knowledge, and only 1 other guy can do basic vinyl. We have me, one designer, one sign specialist, one helper for our sign specialist and the owner. The owner doesn't do much anymore other than...

So my 4 year Mark is coming up as an employee And lately I've really been thinking about making a career out of my job, just not sure if its always going to be here. I've been here since it was just the owner and me, and now we have a crew of 5. Starting out I barely knew the basics of vinyl...
  20. Mutoh Kona Cut Quality

To keep things simple, basically for the last few months, the quality of cuts our Kona has been putting out is getting terrible. I'm going to let the pictures do the talking, and see if anyone has any ideas. This happens with all media, even non-laminated. Have tried adjusting the speed and...
