Include the beer and you might have a buyer !! LOL
  2. Contour cut peppered with holes!!

When you made the outline, is there a tiny offset? like 0.001? If not, it shouldn't do that, but you could also make sure that the outline mode is set to the solid square, not the one with a hole.
  3. Question 300ppi for a 10' x 8' backdrop???

JPG the only option for uploading? In certain files Ive seen PNG come out far smaller. Large patches of solid color and sharp edge graphics will both look better and be a lot smaller file in PNG format. For photographs with lots of gradients the JPG will be smaller (generally)
  4. What would you guys charge for this install?

$350.. in a heated warehouse? Sign me up.
  5. Need Help Code Violation: Can't park my commercial vehicle at my own house?!

Schedule a meeting and talk it out. Heck, you might be able to wrap cars for the city once they see how nice your work is. Lots of larger cities will have promo type vehicles (we did a trailer + golf cart for a DUI awareness program where they get to try and drive with drunk goggles!). Could...
  6. A new spin on an old Scam? Wrap My Escalade!

Just got this email a few minutes ago through the contact form on our site. It is usually very good about blocking spam bots, so this is probably a real person manually entering the information on thousands of sign and wrap shop sites. Name edgar brown Phone Number (347) 073-4356 Email...
  7. Anyone Using 27" Monitors?

In the office I use a Dell 34" 3440x1440. At home I use a Samsung 40" 4K TV The trick to getting a proper 'monitor' out of a TV is to make sure it is 4:4:4 Chroma for clear text and HDMI 2.0 input for less lag. Here is a link to rtings that explains exactly why, but essentially a good 4:4:4...
  8. Flexisign 11 - Missing colors or cut lines when sending to Versaworks

Will give this a shot. Thanks.
  9. Flexisign 11 - Missing colors or cut lines when sending to Versaworks

We've been having this problem with Flexisign 11 where it will drop a color (usually black) or the cut line when using the 'Send to Versaworks' command. Typically I can catch the issue in the print preview, but I'm always worried on a complex graphic or a large wrap that I will miss seeing it...
  10. Best choice for vinyl and laminate

Check out the new Arlon SLX. $850 for a full kit. Installs like a dream. No idea on the long term durability since it is new, but we just wrapped a landscape box truck with it and it printed great and installed easy.
  11. Am I TOO picky? (Sign Blank Suppliers)

Here is attempt #2 on this same job. 3rd times the charm?
  12. Am I TOO picky? (Sign Blank Suppliers)

I don't assume a 4'x8' is ready to go, though oddly enough most of those come with perfect corners. I do assume when I pay a material supplier to cut the material for us to 40" x 120" that it is in fact 40" x 120" and usable. I work in a shop that does embroidery, screen printing, signs...
  13. Am I TOO picky? (Sign Blank Suppliers)

Thanks. I suspected it was the delivery driver also, but we've had instances where the packaging was perfectly intact but the material inside was ruined. I've had them replace a few jobs. Sometimes they send out the sales rep in his pickup truck to deliver instead of the delivery driver, and...
  14. Am I TOO picky? (Sign Blank Suppliers)

I realize I set pretty high standards for the work that I do, so maybe I expect too much from our suppliers, but I'll let you tell me. I've worked as the only graphic designer / sign shop employee at my current job for a little over 5 years now, so I see every sign that gets made and every blank...
  15. Abstract light painting. Vector / Hi res? (drawing a blank on search terms)

Sure. Honestly it's just a few shapes repeated and altered slightly, and a few curves that use variable width profiles, and either radial or linear gradients. The trickiest bit was playing with feathering and layer transparency set to screen or lighten until it achieved the effect I wanted.
  16. Abstract light painting. Vector / Hi res? (drawing a blank on search terms)

I just gave up searching and figured out how to make my own in Illustrator. Probably not the best use of my time but think it came out alright. Will need to adjust color in photoshop a bit.
  17. Abstract light painting. Vector / Hi res? (drawing a blank on search terms)

Thanks TG, I just took a look through their catalog. I can't say I'm impressed with Aurora Graphics. I recall a shop I worked at around 10 years ago having some of their CDs, but wow... what a load of garbage clipart. Tons of bad 3d models and wannabe fast and furious style wraps. Is there still...
  18. Ironic Ad

How about providing a letter size sample of the material with printed vinyl on it then? I actually wonder if you could just sell the material with the vinyl already applied for printing purposes. Maybe only 25yd rolls instead of 50, but then you'd be providing a print ready, one step application...
  19. Abstract light painting. Vector / Hi res? (drawing a blank on search terms)

We are redoing van wraps for a customer where a previous shop used some VERY low res background images that simply look terrible. I've tried to talk the customer into other graphics but they refuse to change. They know what they are getting, but it still isn't work I'm happy to produce. Here is...
  20. ISO - Super High Res Images

I'm shuddering to think what equipment would cost that will take crystal clear photos at that scale. We did a trailer wrap for a workwear company once where there was a boot on the side provided by Timberland. I have never seen before or since a picture that clear, down to the individual strands...
