  1. 3m ij40 multiple failures

I agree what the other's have said about the laminate, and I would recommend the IJ35C over the IJ40R.
  2. 18 Minutes well spent....

That was terrific, thanks for sharing!
  3. General flatbed question

HP Scitex FB700 We got an order for 420 24"x48" Single Sided Coroplast with easils on friday; began the job on monday, and finished it by the end of the work day today. We printed them at around 7 min per 4x8 sheet in express mode (104 4'x8' sheets total). Quality looked great! We even had...
  4. Looking for Roland Color Rip

I can confirm, Versaworks will not work with an SC540. I believe it has something to do with the fact that the SC540 has a different print head order, starting with black. ColorRIP or a 3rd Party Rip such as Onyx.
  5. absolute bidding insanity

I'm shocked they didn't go all in on Harry Dick. :Big Laugh
  6. Roland SC540 Pro 2 Print and Cut, bringing it back to life i hope

Correct you should see the values increase as it moves from one end to the other. The 0010 indicates a scan motor error. Here is a link to the discussion on this error: http://www.signs101.com/forums/showthread.php?53330-Service-Motor-Error-0080-and-0010 Here is a link to a comprehensive list...
  7. Media feeding out when finding crop marks on VersaCamm SP540V

This happened to our Roland SC540 and occurred more frequently over time. It turns out it was a bad ribbon/data cable. Ink and metal shavings got inside the protective Mylar and ate away at it.
  8. Problem customer accepted installation on Friday, now says color is wrong, etc..

I'm not sure what vinyl you used, but i'm wondering if the grey shifted in color because of the difference between the white point of the backer and the color of the wall. Some vinyls can have some transparency to them even if advertised as opaque. Also the lighting could have been different...
  9. Oracal costing me money

We also experienced problems with their 210 matte and glossy laminates. Apparently they started manufacturing the backer here in the united states a while back, and that's when the problem started occurring for us. I'm not sure if they're making it thinner or what, but supposedly they've...
  10. Heads up Memorial Day deal.

    Thanks for the heads up!
  11. XC-540W Vertical Alignment Of Cyan & Magenta On Test Prints

You are going to need to do a head alignment. Unfortunately the procedure to do this isn't in the regular manual. I don't have the service manual for this printer, but I do have one for the XJ740 so perhaps the process is similar. Below is a link to download it, just look at section 4-4 Head...
  12. New flatbed advise

Another +1 for the HP FB700. We've been printing tons of everything and its great. The only issue we ran into was with static, but have since got it taken care of. EDIT: added to the poll
  13. Roland giving some money back ?

The reason why it's cutting the in the wrong spot is because what the OP is trying to cut is too thick for his printer. Please go read post #93, #95 and then finally #102. If I were the OP, I would try to convince clients to accept a thinner laminate, or buy an industrial cutter. The roland...
  14. Roland giving some money back ?

I think it's already been determined that what he's been trying to cut is too thick for his machine.
  15. Can someone please convert this for me asap

Here you go. I hope it works for you.
  16. Roland giving some money back ?

There are a few places that show the conversions online, here is one of them. http://www.kylesconverter.com/length/mil-to-millimeters
  17. Roland giving some money back ?

per brochure "Maximum 1.0 mm with liner, for printing Maximum 0.4 mm with liner and 0.22 mm without liner, for cutting" 0.22mm = 8.66 mil
  18. Roland giving some money back ?

I'm curious what cut settings you are using, and what blade type. 12mil is incredibly thick for cutting on a Roland VS-300i. I recommend that you slow your cutting speed to the slowest possible (5-10 cm/s) and slow your up-speed to match. If you run the cut again and this improves it, then...
  19. Hey Fellers and Montroy.

'Brian' is Frank's middle name. :supersmilie:
  20. not doing it for nothing

Honestly, your price does sound high to me. Unless I'm missing something, this is around 6 sqft of vinyl and laminate (if digitally printed). Then factor in a countour cut/masking and install fee, and it seems like your price is kinda high. EDIT: Ah I missed that little tid bit.
