  1. vinyl buckling between rollers

I have been having the same issues. I've been wondering if it is a humidity issue, heater settings, or a different backing paper. It seemed to have started after the Covid related shortages. It doesn't seem to happen with the other materials, only the 4600. I use a Mutoh VJ-1624.
  2. 69 Camaro SS Headlight Cove

I've been looking too. I may have to create one. If I do, I will let you know. The one I need is all across the front, grill and covered headlight look.
  3. Great EBay Experience

I have been thinking of adding one to my shop. May I ask who you ordered from? I tried to zoom in on the number on the end of the box, but to no avail! Thanks!

  5. Opinion I think a light bulb just went off today................................................

I've been a member on her since 2013, in the sign industry since 1987 (my profile still says I am a new member, lol). I don't post very much at all. Part of the reason is I am not anywhere close to a guru, so I don't feel I may not have the right answers, but at the same time, I don't post...
  6. Mutoh MS31 ink changeover problem

I have a 7 year old Mutoh VJ-1624. It has been a workhorse. I perform all the maintenance (Cap station, head changes, faithful cleaning). I'm not sure if it is a machine problem or the switch over to the MS31 inks, but since the change, I no longer receive the low ink warning. After using this...
  7. If you are..

Race cars are always welcome in my shop. I built my sign business by hand lettering, then cut vinyl, now wraps. A car with 10 sponsors, means I have contact with 10 potential customers. And with people in the stands, they see something cool, they become potential customers. Of course, it helped...
  8. Question Lettering a 53 foot semi-trailer

ams is correct. Rivets and the "ribs" are very time consuming. I am doing a 200 truck fleet, 2'x10' printed graphic, run at a 45 degree angle on the front of the trailers. Just in that small area, I encounter 12-16 ribs and on average 60 rivets. Takes about 45 minutes per side to install simple...
  9. Perform CR Maintenance

Sounds to me like it needs a capping station replacement. I also was not informed from my vender that it needs to be replaced yearly. Mine was over 3 years old when I learned this valuable lesson. You also need to change the wiper blade on the maintenance (capping) station about every 6 months...
  10. Drum wraps

I have done several, and also am a drummer. I wrapped my personal set a little over 2 years ago using Arlon 4600 with Arlon 3420G overlaminate. I have had great results with it. My shells were a stained wood, so all I did was completely disassemble all the hardwear, cleaned with alcohol, and...
  11. I inherited a sign shop that I want to keep.

Sorry for your loss, but I applaud you in wanting to continue! As far as finding help and advertising, one of the least expensive ways to do both is through Facebook. Set up a page and ask all your friends on your personal page to like your new sign shop page. Post lots of pics of your work...
