I have a problem with white foil smearing beyond the print line to the right of my printed image.
See example. The center of the "A" is supposed to be clear vinyl but the white foil smears beyond the black stroke and into the clear. Cutting out the center is a work around but doesn't fix it...
Can anyone compare and contrast the two digital printing systems mentioned?
I have an Edge FX and am considering the Summa DC5sx.
Specifically interested in:
1. printing white on clear
2. printing on Convex chrome
3. cutting accuracy
4. foil cost
5. anything else you may think is relevant...
I've never had much success scanning in images into high fidelity vector art using omega. In fact, it's quite useless.
If you scan images into vector art and are satisfied with the quality, please share your method/setup including hardware and software.
Thanks.
Has anyone else had a problem with vinyl jamming in the Gerber Edge FX?
I have:
1) shipped it off to Gerber and have them say there is nothing wrong with it
2) replaced the sprockets
3) replaced the squeegees
4) coated the surface on which the vinyl exits with a teflon lubricant...

GMS - "convex chrome high bond"
Just to close the loop - I received a sample and purchased a 50-yard roll of the convex chrome high bond from GMS as a replacement for the discontinued Scotchcal 210 Deluxe Silver.
It printed very nicely on the Scotchcal 210 Deluxe Silver setting on my Edge...
Just got off the phone with my local distributor. After chasing down contacts at Gerber and 3M, my distributor informed of the following: The Japanese tsunami disrupted the production of the above referenced material which is why it has been impossible to get lately; now for the bad news -...
With Tim's encouragement, I tried my first backcut on my envision 375 yesterday. My technique showed promise but still needs some work.
The backcut was not quite deep enough to separate the decals but apparently deep enough to show an impression on the front of the decal as a result of the...
Firmware was different between the two plotters. Upgrading the firmware on the troubled plotter fixed my plotter. Thanks a bunch!
I also found the pulldown and set it to zero.
Thanks again for your help. You're a wonderful resource.

Fred - I tried all four combinations. Didn't help. Any other suggestions?
One difference between the two plotters is the one that fails to correctly cut the target advances the vinyl about 8-12 inches before it rewinds and cuts the target. It also periodically pauses in the middle of the job...
My Envision 375 is consistently cutting to the right of the target (positive X-axis). Put another way, the cut is near perfect on the horizontal target line but to the right of the vertical target line. Of course, this adversely impacts the rest of the job.
No problem sending the job from...
Update
Two months have passed since I initially posted my problem.
For the record:
Gerber was taking a too long to fix my new (right-out-of-the-box) Envision 375 plotter that failed the internal X08 diagnostic test. I called my distributor.
My distributor sent a tech who fiddled with my...

Tony Teveris,
I was exchanging calls with Peggy in Tech Support. I felt it was taking longer than it should to get answers so I conatacted my distributor who sold me the plotter (Reece Supply). I'm not sure how often Christian (Reece) has talked to Tech Support.
