I agree with the first response. A good cast vinyl is SUPER overkill for an ACM sign. I cheap calendered vinyl like Oracal 3651 would work just fine. I've made hundreds this way and always trim right to the edge.
Another handy tool is that you can also use math in most measurement boxes. So if you to double your stroke just add *2 to the end of measurement (ex: 1 pt*2) then hit enter. Bam! 2pt!
Also, are they printing differently? Because as long as the spot color names are exactly the same your RIP should treat them them same anyway if you use color correction.
Thanks for the reply, VanderJ, but you should check out the earlier posts. That method only works with a 90 degree angle like on a rectangle which fits most situations. However I was trying to measure a rounded triangle which has narrower angles than a rectangle. The method for meausring those...
Hey CJ1,
From my experience, if you want to mute your ink, choose an uncoated media that will soak up the ink like canvas or paper. Ink kind of sits on top of coated media, like vinyl, retaining some of it's natural sheen.
Just what FrankW said. However, if you're just trying to match one color you can use Flexi color matching to get the exact color you want out of each printer for a specified spot color like a Pantone. If you're a Flexi user. I dunno about other RIP software.
I LOVE our HP360. All default settings and profiles seem to work great. Never had any color issues on our end except once where a yellow gradient made a hard shift in the middle. But generally it's been great. Hardy print quality, fast turn around, lam right away if needed. My only qualm with it...
Thank you everyone for your input, this was driving me nuts! I KNEW there had to be a simple explanation out there. I suppose I shoulda paid more attention in geometry XD
And yes, I realize that rounded corners will vary between shapes. But what I noticed, on my machine anyways, is that two identical triangles with the same corner radius entered on Live Corners as well as Effects>Rounded Corners are producing different results..
Thanks for the reply. That's certainly helpful when matching a design on the computer, but the issue I think I'm having is measuring the correct corner radius of an acute angle from a pre-existing sign in hand.
