In my experience a lot of times, the client just doesn't care what we think. They want what they want. A lot of times we are able to convince them to try something else but you will always have those who are persistent.

Round corner rectangle tool is the illustrator equivalent of the Composer border tool...you can set the thickness and not have to mess with offset paths as well

NVM, I checked it all out and they still differ across versions of Illustrator. No matter what more I check. I am going to test making them LAB and printing each to see if the RIP software prints them similar.

Can you convert to LAB in illustrator? That I am unfamiliar with...I thought it was only in Photoshop?

They are printing differently. We use Versaworks Dual with a Roland Truvis 540 for this client on 3M IJ350. So spot color should be checked? I did convert them to CMYK in Illustrator as I thought that would help which didn't. We had spot color checked when we first got this printer/software...

There doesn't appear to be anything different in any settings from each other. The settings are what we've been using since we switched to CC. Never had this happen before.

Both are from the solid coated pantone book

Obviously I just did that to get my color printed for the job now but I am still confused as to why its doing that? I also want to figure it out so when other designers here set something up they know what to look for so it doesn't happen again...Plus I was fortunate enough with this job to have...

It switched it to the percentages of the file its pasted on

One of them is very very close yes...I just do not understand why when setting up different jobs and selecting the same PMS color it give different CMYK percentages which in turn makes the hue different
