  1. Security labels for portable Radios

As the other guy said above. ANY label can be removed. I have even removed license plate tags with ease (legally), using a heat gun and some patience. The best option for plastics is heat stamping. Good luck removing that without a grinding wheel.
  2. Roland VP540 recommendations??

I have put over 50 rolls of Orajet 3164G and 3651G through my VP-540 with grate results. I have tried Roland, 3M, Avery, Arlon, Solvex, each with its own problems, Oracal however seems to have the least.
  3. Wrong cuts wasting tons of money!!

Use all the pinch rollers, slipping is often the problem (specially with larger sheets) if you are not using enough pinch rollers. Also don't use the "center on media" option.
  4. Too many sign shops!!

Too many indeed... And the worst part is that they come up to my area and vandalize my advertising. Or they park their cars and put up banners in my area. The sad truth is that many of them are mindless morons with a $300 plotter from eBay, who don't know one end of a computer from the...
  5. SP 540 Emergency!

    Uhh! Service?
  6. VP-540, Speed up printing

Hook it up to 220V, that will speed thing up a bit. Muvahahahahahahaha!
  7. VP-540 q's

Ive had a VP540 for 2.5 years. Knock on wood, it is flawless. Not a single problem, other than adjustments to make it do what I want. I clean the heads every week, replace the wipers and cut off blade every month, and whatever you do don't ever use 3rd party inks, I never have and never will.
  8. Roland VP-540, Stickers

Yes it does. For best results you need to change both stip and blade after about 2000 medium sized PerfCut stickers. Otherwise you will get a fuzzy edge on the stickers. Not worth it really. I sub out all die cut stickers.
  9. VP-540 Printhead swap?

CLEAN THE HEADS! Do the manual maintenance every week (alcohol and swab thing). Change the wiper blades every month. Change the damper seals every year. It sounds like the head is drying out and it is not getting cleaned in between print jobs by the wipers. The heads don't go out that easy...
  10. Honest opinion on Big Squeegee

You need to hire 4 extra people to use the thing, not very efficient.
  11. Computer Problem I Can't Solve.

Delete this folder "Windows XP", and all will be well. }: )
  12. Not sure what to charge

    $450
  13. Shop tables

Rivet shelving. We have three 4x8 tables with a shelf underneath, for the past 15 years, sturdy as a tank. Each shelf can hold 2500 pounds. The frames cost me $129 each, you have to add your own wood sheets.
  14. VersaCamm Refill Ink Cartridges

As the other members have mentioned the few bucks you will save is not worth the risk and hassle. Stick with OEM and your Roland will print for 10 years (and still going) like mine has. Unless of course you have won the lottery and can replace your dead printer on the spot. : )
  15. shadow/hazing

Ooh PVC! STATIC my friend. Try spraying the area with antistatic spray.
  16. VP540 Gloss paper bands...

Yes... The glossier the paper was the more apparent the banding was for us... I tried uni directional, and slowing down the print head, did not work. Until I cleaned the heads. The heads clogging was due to the AC blowing right onto the printer, drying the head. Do a head test to see if...
  17. How offen to you use the printer?

Our VP-540 gets used everyday. However when in sleep mode, it does comes alive every so often to flush and refresh the heads.
  18. Cutting a print after you laminate it?

Make sure you print the registration marks. Print ONLY, laminate, then put it back in. CUT ONLY.
  19. Looking to buy a Roland but which one

We purchased a Roland VP-540 six months ago, not a hick-up yet. You have to get the settings right to get it to do magic, but honestly we would be out of business without it. 54 inches is plenty wide, we seldom use anything that is wider than 48 inches, banners mostly.
  20. home depot

Try http://www.logoclipart.com We use them all the time.
