  1. Can a Summa D160 Cut paper Posters?

Big Summa fan, but I'd look at doing them by hand for best results. You could try dialing in your FlexCut settings on blank stock, so there's nothing holding you back, but I assume a straight rule will nicer looking results, and might ultimately be faster depending on your shop setup.
  2. Need Help Summa s2 160 x-axis not perf cut as well as y-axis

This is one of the reasons I lean towards doing two cuts on all my jobs—So I can go a little lighter on the first cut, and the second pass takes care of whatever's left. I feel like it gives you a little more room to move around the Goldilocks zone. If you're doing rectangles as regular cuts...
  3. Question Everything I've learned about perf cut/die cut stickers

I'd suggest GF-203/201 or Substance print media for "perf" cut stickers. Sounds like you're doing the right thing on the strips. I usually go more by the quality of the cut, than how it looks—and, like you said, replace before a new blade. I'm not exactly sure how the Graphtec or Roland perf...
  4. S2 Kiss Cut and Die Cut in one pass

Correct. It's being used to more describe the end result, rather than the process. I use it for anything that is cut all the way through the material, versus kiss cuts.
  5. S2 Kiss Cut and Die Cut in one pass

I only do full die-cut stickers, and I (perhaps lazily) decided 45° was the best for that. The 36° can't go around super sharp turns as easily, and the stickers can show it. If all I did was circles and rectangles, the 36° would be a better choice. I don't think it makes quite as much a...
  6. S80600 -9 Color in Onyx

Choose the first one. Picking "9-colors" locks you out of ever using the white/silver channel. You can go back and forth with the first one, but not 9-colors. Ask me how I know... You can change it later, but at the expense of settings/profiles not rolling over. I ran for about a year using...
  7. S2 Kiss Cut and Die Cut in one pass

I actually really like the 45° OEM tangential blades from Summa at *cough* $62 ea. (plus shipping @#$%.) They go up faster than inflation, which is a shame, cuz they do prevent me from suggesting Summa wholeheartedly to newbies anymore. I do 10's of thousands of die-cut stickers every month and...
  8. S2 Kiss Cut and Die Cut in one pass

That would work, if Summa had a way to set two unique pressure (etc) values on the cutter itself. Correct me if I'm wrong though! The only way I know on the S2 to get two different cuts in a single job with different pressures (editable on the fly at the cutter) is to use a "regular" cut and a...
  9. S2 Kiss Cut and Die Cut in one pass

I personally make the die-cut directly with two cuts as a rule. The only time I use FlexCut is when I do someting like a "sticker sheet" where there are kiss cuts on the center and a through cut at the edge. Even if not necessary, I feel like two cuts gives you a little more leeway with the...
  10. Summa Missed Cuts

You might see if "Panelling" is on or off on the cutter. I usually have great success leaving it set to "Off." In theory it's supposed to make things more accurate between reg marks, but in this case, as you're spanning marks, it could be compounding errors instead. The usual, slow it down a...
  11. S2 Kiss Cut and Die Cut in one pass

I usually find it best to set pressure at the plotter, as it can change fast based on material and blade sharpness. You can't dial anything in if it's already locked into the cut file itself. I have no experience with GoSign, but the only way I've been able to do what you describe, combining...
  12. How do you store / organize your overs?

Give them to the customer, or toss them. You could also lead with "Do you want to buy the overs if we have any?" when you take the order.
  13. Onyx Epson Edition

Yup. Saves to a Google Drive folder that shows up instantly on another computer that SCC grabs from. The files are just sequential gibberish, but match the text next to the printed barcode—one each for the "top" and "bottom" codes.
  14. Onyx Epson Edition

Seconding Boudica, I use the free Onyx/Gamaprint they gave me with my 80600, I think version 18 or 19. It adds Summa marks and barcodes to everything I print, but I DO use Summa Cutter Control to drive my two cutters with the files Onyx creates. Easy peasy.
  15. How powerful computer?

I'm curious what size files people are ripping, and how many at a time?
  16. S3T160 FlexCut Issues

Depending on how large your circles are, if it's an adhesive vinyl you can probably skip the FlexCut and just do one or two "regular" cuts instead. FlexCut can lead to a lot of issues, and doesn't generally give better results for general stickers. With regular cuts the adhesive keeps the...
  17. Summa D140 Cutting Motocross

You might benefit from doing your cut in two or more passes. If I were doing something like that, 15 mil to 21 mil, I'd probably be doing at least 2 passes if not 3.
  18. Solvent smell on Epson S80600L's

I don't have a propper scrubber, but I do have the printer located to close to an exhaust fan that runs whenever the printer does. Not great for Summers and Winters, but saves the brain cells. I'd definitely look in to that Amaircare if I couldn't vent it. Ours is in a 500 sq ft room, and...
  19. Need Help Saving in PS as a tiff thats over the 4gb limit

Lossless means you wouldn't lose any quality. I think by default either LZW or ZIP compression are already selected, so it may not matter, but when you go to save as a tif, a dialgue box should pop up with these options, so you can verify.
  20. Need Help Saving in PS as a tiff thats over the 4gb limit

For tif, are you picking ZIP compression in the tif save menu? I've never worked with files that large, but .psb is still a "Photoshop" file (specifically for large documents), so you might be fine with that. Can you check with the printer? Their prepress should definitely have a solution if...
