I have four huge window wall sections (16 panes each). These panes are all different sizes, and the dividing metal framing has different thicknesses -- which makes the RIP's built-in tiling feature moot.
What I did for the first section: Copied and pasted the image 16 times into the AI layout...
VW 6 is ”64 bit’ but the real question I have is, can it make use of multiple cores? VW Dual and ver5 are single core only. If 6 truly is multi core, then we won’t need to upgrade our Athlon x4 640…sure, a newer setup would be ideal but we’re stuck with what we have for now.
I've been trying for MONTHS to locate a pair of these for our ROLAND. The unit came with a built-in dispenser spindle for the vinyl rolls, but it's warped now and causing problems. I've used THESE things at my last job -- they stick into each end of the vinyl roll, the twist handle tightens it...
Our FB700 has a weird problem: Outdoor Signage Plus (600 x 300) has a cleaner print than Indoor Plus (600 x 600) ::see attached pics::
I did a manual BIDI registration and the LC heads are totally shot…it couldn’t print a line just a tiny swath of blur.
Turning on Fine Text helps a lot, but...
I use Caldera VR 8+ (stop laughing) and Optiscout 7. When running jobs with cutlines, Caldera saves out the OXF file to Opti, but it's always 0.08" to 0.1" off. This is no matter if I manually create the cutlines or if VR8 generates it.
Selecting the cutlines and scooching them over -0.08" does...
We're having a weird overspray problem with our cyan/lt cyan colors. How can we fix this?
Cleaned the heads, ran the auto-calibration routines -- and its still doing this. What's happening here? Happens on all materials, including metal (with ionizer enabled)
I'd like to replace our XR-640 -- its white ink system leaves a LOT to be desired (plus it's slow as a glacier), but have yet to find which brands/types of printer tech to go with. What say ye?
Are there any guides (official or unofficial) for replacing the internal hard drive for the FB700 series? I'm aware it's not SATA but some kind of IDE mutant. Also, the drive has to be cloned bit-for-bit (I've got the hardware to do this). Is there a thread on here going thru this?
I use Caldera with a Colex SharpCut. When running a job with cutlines, it will turn curves, ellipses and other bezier curves into a LOT of straight lines. Selecting them in Optiscout and reducing nodes helps, but most times we can't do that. This adds considerable time to the Sharpcut's idle...
Stickers slow me down like nothing else. We get a LOT of rush orders for small runs (25-150qty) and YES, our Roland can spit those out in just a few minutes but it takes a while to get it prepped.
I have a bad back. Swapping out rolls of vinyl is no picnic. And the amount of waste on the...
Can anyone show me a photo of how the blade sits in the Coro tool's collet? My work forgot they had this tool -- I found it OVERJOYED!!! and I'm trying to put a new blade in it -- but can't figure out how to work it with the collet screw and placement / depth of the blade. It's been years since...
I was talking to someone here a few months back about this (and like a dummy I lost his store links) for bits routing 10mil coro. Running the 5HP router on a 5x10 Colex SharpCut.
I have a couple of Gator bits that ::work:: but the edges are a mess. Any suggestions or links I can buy from?
This is for everybody who's gone from a standup roll-to-roll laminator, to a flatbed lam table. Our standup is the only thing that gives me anxiety in my job. I've used a flatbed ONCE, years ago, and I still miss it. How has moving to the flatbed changed your work / improved/hurt things? We're...
At least for us — I’ve battled Oracal’s 3640 rolls and its awful puckering and crinkling for years. The backing liner absorbs humidity like TOILET PAPER.
A week ago Grimco substituted a roll of General Formulation’s cheap matte stuff and OH MAH GAWD… no issues. Didn’t have to babysit our...
We rarely print vehicle wraps, so I’m sure there are better substrates— but my goodness! Arlon’s SLX+ material has been the biggest, most pleasant surprise for us. Prints are super smooth and consistent, and their matching 3270 laminate comes out flawless even in our awful roll-fed machine. I...
We're printing the wraps for a plumber's fleet, and this is the first time I'm doing actual 'wrap' and not just partial/spot decals. We use EcoSol 4 Max inks and I was just given a bunch of Arlon vinyl to print on.
Do I need to let these sit up and gas out before laminating? If so, what's the...
When we load items into our hotfolder, Caldera crunches the preview and then it shows up in the main window multiple times. This happens on different file types, singles or multi-page PDFs.
Anyone know why this happens? I delete these dupes without problem, but it IS a tad annoying.
The...
VersaWorks Dual gives ink level remaining in 25% increments. Is there any way to pull a. more accurate reading from the printer? Like from a network command line/web interface? I've used a Canon printer way back when that had an 'ink check' via a web interface -- it was surprisingly precise...
I can not figure out how to get Overcut Compensation to work right. (See screenshot)
No matter what I put in the field, whether negative or positive, tiny or large, the cuts go wild and do not compensate at all — it just makes a mess.
My primary blade overcuts by .25”, so entering -0.25” or...
