  1. How long do you keep vehicles in your shop after a wrap/decals are installed

Our lead installer is constantly insisting that all graphics, whether it be a 2'x1' logo on the door or a full wrap, need to be kept in the shop overnight. I get this for the colder months of the year (being in Canada), but is this really necessary for a 25C (77F) day? What do you guys do in...
  2. Alternative Channel Letter Mounting Solutions

This is where the Halo's are supposed to go, for reference. It's a 48' wide sign...
  3. Alternative Channel Letter Mounting Solutions

This was actually one of the ideas we proposed for the regular lit letters. The wall looks (roughly) like what you have drawn, but for the halo letters, there is basically no way. Boy would I be a much less stressed-out man, but their deposit is in and the letters are all fabricated. We are a...
  4. Alternative Channel Letter Mounting Solutions

As it always seems to go, we've got a client who has ordered channel letters, and now that they're ready to go, they do not want us to put holes in the wall to install. We've got two large sets for them, one halo lit and the other regular lit. The wall is insulated metal panels, where the...
  5. Print storage ideas? We are running out of space!

Here's our simple yet very effective solution. Steel flat bar with some 54" rods coming out of it. We just transfer the prints from the printer to an empty roll, and let it dangle while it off-gasses. We've got about 15 or 20 or these rods hanging in our shop. Edit: I should mention, we screwed...
  6. Grand Format printer in Saskatchewan or Alberta?

Check with Sleek Advertising out of Regina
  7. Roland GR: changing blade holder position

I just loosen the latch bolt more to get it in, and then tighten it back up. We have the same issue.
  8. Good morning...from Texas

That's a regular Tuesday for me this time of year. Must be nice for that to be a surprise occasion. We were at -50F (-46C) this weekend.
  9. What was the smallest change you made in your business that had the biggest impact?

My goal would be more so to decrease production time and increase production efficiency, but I think that's what you're meaning haha
  10. What was the smallest change you made in your business that had the biggest impact?

Far too often people think that you need to make leaps and bounds before taking the first step. What was the smallest (or easiest) change you made in how your business operates that has pushed you to the next level?
  11. LED replacement for flourescent lamps

Do you guys wire these LED sticks up yourselves or do you need a licensed electrician? Looking into the GE Tetra sticks and the Allanson Speedlamps
  12. Do you ask, “How did you find us?”

I always ask when larger sign companies are calling to sub out local installs. Usually from Google search. Occasionally the call the other (smaller) sign shop with better SEO and they refer them to us as they can't usually handle large scale installs. For local clients, I don't ask as much as I...
  13. Looking for CHEAP printable vinyl

We did a few thousand circle decals this spring/fall for the local school division. "SIT HERE", "DO NOT SIT HERE", etc. Mainly social distancing stuff. Nice order though
  14. Is it just me??

It may not even be Biden, as much as Harris trying to appease the far left radicals. I know here as soon as we switching from Liberal to Conservative provincial government, taxes went down within a year. The former government just kept raising and spending. Living in a conservative area, none of...
  15. Looking for CHEAP printable vinyl

For something like this, I'm using Arlon 510. Depending on the plastic, maybe 510HT. For us, it's way cheaper than Oracal 3640/3641. GF also has some really low cost vinyls, but I'm not as familiar.
  16. Where to buy SunTek films?

Our local SunTek dealer started stealing our clients and doing wraps ,decals and signs so I'm not a huge fan lol. You can locate dealers by Zip Code here: https://www.suntekfilms.com/dealerzip
  17. Drive-thru menu light boxes

I've got a client looking to add a drive-thru to their existing restaurant. For those with experience building drive-thru menus, do you recommend using a standard EX lightbox on a post or do you usually have something custom made? My current plan is a standard EX box, with some internal support...
  18. Another Win for Texas

Most businesses do this, whether they realize it or not. Studies consistently show that higher corporate taxes are almost entire passed on to the customer or to cuts/freezes in employee wages.
  19. Another Win for Texas

Telsa is at nearly 1000% growth this year alone. I wish I had invested last year, or even earlier this year when I thought it was just a bubble. Would've been an easy cash-out. Who am I kidding, I would've kept holding until the bubble burst anyway.
  20. How to handle previous owner's mistakes

If we're doing a job at cost, we never mention the fact that it is at cost. I only ever say that it is at a discounted price. I agree, not the kind of information you want in a client's hands.
